Boost gauge / intake manifold

I decided to tap into the intake manifold to install my boost gauge (X-monitor) and need some info on this install .

I was thinking of drilling and tapping the manifold and threading a double female brass fitting in and screwing the supplied coupler that will accept the hard plastic boost line on to the brass fitting .

Is there a better way to do this ?

When I remove the manifold do I need a new gasket or can I reuse the old one ?

TIA

Why don't you just use the supplied Tee follow the X-Monitor directions and connect to the MAP sensor line that is coming out of the manifold?

The directions seemed pretty clear, so you must have a reason for wanting to go this route, just curious as to why you want to go to all that extra work?

thats how i did it.

i drilled and tapped the intake elbow. (1/8" pipe)
i like to be sure my gauge is reading the exact boost my engine is seeing. no tubes or tee's or sensors etc.

Several people said that tapping into the map sensor you would would get erratic boost readings this is just on the 6.0 .

Did you remove the elbow before you drilled and tapped and if so did you reuse the old gasket or used a new one ?

Interesting, I had never heard that. My readings are rock solid using the Tee of the MAP sensor. I did have a bit of leakage though at first where the tube plugs into the X-Monitor. I didn't have it pushed on all the way. Once that was taken care of I've not had any problems.

I did remove my exhaust manifold and drill and tap it off the truck, so I'm no stranger to doing a bit of extra work if need be. No gasket on the exhaust manifold by the way.

It has an O-Ring so it can be reused.
Definately remove before drilling.
