I purchased a GlowShift 3 in 1 Diesel gauge with analog EGT, and digital boost and temp. I've read several posts about installing the EGT probe so I'm good to go on that part. The GlowShift instructions say to "drill and tap the intake manifold" to install the boost sensor. Is there a capped port available on the intake or will I need to drill into it? Is there another place I can T off of to get the boost?
Also, I'd like to use the temp gauge for transmission temperature. Again, is there a place to connect to without drilling the trans pan?
for the boost i would just T into the map sensor line. as for the trans i know on a 7.3 they make an adaptor that screws into the test port on the tranny so you might wanna look into that

Thanks,
There is a transmission service port located above the second bolt from the front, I believe. It will be on the driver side. The sensor will drop right into this port. Just do not over tighten, and do not use sealant or teflon tape, as the sensor needs to make metal to metal contact in order to ground. You can stick on a small bead around it after the install, if you are worried about it.
As for the boost gauge, you can buy conversions, or just take off the intake elbow and drill and tap it for the line. This is what I did, and works great! Very accurate.
I did use teflon tape on mine and found the threads were sharp enough to cut into/through the tape to make electrical contact and still seal against any leaks......
Unless the thermocouple probe breaks off and runs thru the engine, the gauges won't void your warranty.
Yes. I imagine something foreign (metal shavings, broken drill bit) being introduced into the system would be grounds for voiding the warrantee. I was thinking more along the lines of what drilling a hole in the exhaust manifold would do to the warrantee.
On the glowshift gauge trans temp sender, the ground is aquired by a dedicated wire so it does not have to be in contact with the transmission body. This wire then is grounded to the body.
