I am considering changing the FMX in my 67 F100, 352 ci with a C6 transmission. Summit Catalog lists a C6 for the FE motor at $750 + shipping. Does anyone know if an FE type C6 will directly bolt in place of the FMX. I would also be changing the torque converter and flex plate.
it is part of the C6 case, as it is one piece. There are 2 tailshaft lengths as well to keep in mind, the short tail is likely the one you will need to have without having to cut the drive shaft down, but I am not certain about that.
Fordlover2501970 just put one in behind his new 390, maybe he could cget the length for you. I think they are the same for length behind the block, just that they have the different bells. He has the short tail version in his. I used to have a couple extra, but don't anymore. The ones from the cars will work, but you will have to custom your driveshaft.
Dave, The answer to your question is yes. A C6 for a FE is a direct replacement for the FMX. Your 352 is a FE family engine. The two trannys are a different length so driveshaft replacement is likely part of the deal.
I now this is a 10 year old thread but on the chance that anyone is still reading it. How did that switch from the FMX to the C6 go? I am thinking of doing the same thing to my 67 camper special....
I am doing the FMX to C6 swap here next week any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated, I have never done anything like this before but I am a heavy machine and tractor mechanic so I should be able to do this. Will try to document and make notes for future reference... Thanks in advance...
