Isn't there a kit of some kind to put a 'drain plug' in my '78 F250 RWD with it's 460 & C6 automatic. For shade tree mechanics like me who often make blunders it would be so much cleaner
to have a drain plug rather than the current method of spilling out the transmission fluid by loosening most of the bolts except for a couple up front & then prying it loose to let the fluid "SPILL"
all over the floor as I don't have a drain pan that large.
Anyway, is there a kit or something out there that I can install a drain plug into my auto tray pan?
There are quite a few DIY drain plug kits, sometimes less than $15 each. I use a better type but it'll run nearly $50 or more and requires a bit of extra work to properly seal to the pan BUT when/if the ATF needs drained these are just about perfect, IMHO anyway. Along with adding one to the trans pan I use the same type for engine oil---massively easy to direct draining oil into a catch pan with no spillage.
