Sparkplugs
Hi all ,I have a 1996 Ford Explorer , 4.0L , use mostly for town driving with the odd highway trip. I went to buy Boch plugs and the parts guy said don't use them they will burn out your catalytic converter. Any suggestions for a good plug for this truck. thanks

Welcome to FTE!
Your truck has an EDIS ignition sytem which is based on a "waste spark" design. Hence, it needs a good double platinum plug. In this regard, Motorcraft and Autolite DP's are the only way to go. They are OEM replacement plugs, and they work the best.
Motorcraft has also designed a "finewire platinum" plug which is supposedly even better for EDIS, offering more platinum where it's needed in order to reduce fouling and requiring less firing voltage (hence less stress on the system). So if you run across these plugs (FM series) they should work just fine, too.
