Ive been running Bosch Plat4 plugs in my 89 crown vic for 3 years now. Its hard to tell if this thing is even running, its so smooth, in fact i've cranked it over several times thinking it wasn't running, when it was. Guess I just got lucky.
I don't know. I've never had a problem and I used to run Bosch in my Volvo for years. That sucker kept going and going like the energizer bunny.
Why do you guys think Bosch aren't any good. I've torn spark plugs apart and there is just about zero complexity to them. They are a pretty simple thing to make so I don't see how a bad one can be made. I think if Bosch made bad plugs they'd be out of the plug making business real quick like.
he probably means that the motorcraft plugs are factory spec plugs. they were made specifically for the truck. either way autolite is the way to go i think. autolite is the company that makes fords plugs but they arent under ford specs when they say autolite on them. i dont like bosch plugs, nor champion. and its the 5.4's and 4.6's that are picky about their plugs.
It's been well established that anything more than the basic Autolites or Motorcrafts are wasted on sb fords. "Wasted" meaning throwing your money away on better plugs.
My 94 with the 5.8 had the bosch platinums in it when I bought the truck. They looked new but the truck ran like they were too cold for the application. The part number was for my truck but I just ended up throwing some champions in it and it ran better. The bosch work great in my 2000 Explorer SOHC though.
Don't get me wrong, Bosch plat's are good spark plugs. But like i said, anything better than a basic plug is wasted on our engines. "Our engines" meaning sb fords.
That's weird. I wonder what the difference is. Platinum just means "lasts longer". It doesn't mean better or run better or high class or anything like that. It only means longer. That's why vehicles with platinum plugs don't need a tune up for 100 kmi. Platinum lasts longer than regular ole copper. That should be the only difference. And why would the spark from one plug be different than another? I just don't get it.
