I have a k&N filter now. I was wondering if I just use the "pipe" without their filter would the results be the same??

Yes, I think this is kinda the question of the moment. We have one user (Hawaiian) that is pretty confident the JR kit is no match for the full cold air and another user with his JR kit on order. This thread will probably decide it for me assuming we get all the feedback in!

Fellaz, That's exactly what I'm sayin... I thought I would be getting good results going from stock to "JR".
I found it was good as far as sound but as for performance and efficiency, no significant change. here is my recording:
EFFICIENCY
(present odometer) 1,117 + (little over) 1/2 tank left
Visits to the pump- 4 @ $45 avrg. per fill w/ 87 oct.
total miles @ fill = took delivery of truck with 8 miles
(1) Dealership provided this tank) 8-318 bare-bones stock
(2) 318+624=306 @ 22 gal - $46
(3) 624+939=315 @ 23 gal - $48 (JR installed)
(4) 939+1117=178 @ end results pending (Full Kit)

what I'm seeing at this point (day 3 w/fullkit) is possibly getting at next fill-up approx. 340 or so. now this is only my guesstimation. but if I'm at 178 miles with a little over 1/2 tank to go I should double it... and as I see it, thats an improvement off the start. BTW, I'm not sure compared to other trucks that are similar to mine what kind of mileage I should be receiving but this seems to be what mine is capable of giving me for now.

PERFORMANCE
A$$ Dyno says, "Oh Yeah Baby!"
Lead Foot says "Stomp it!"
Ears says, "Lets hear her Scream!"
put it all together and ya get...... 1- Very Satisfied F150 Owner!

I'll be heading back to drop off the "Jr" and stock system tonight and inquire on the Mass Flow Sensor..... will keep everyone posted!

Aloha

My Results....

So Ive had the JR kit for about 3 days and it was worth the 130$. By my own experiences, i would go with whatever intake you can afford.... meaning if you have the 300$ to spend, definatly buy the full kit but the ratio of performance/price is probably better with the JR kit (thats just MO).

changes-
sounds a slightly bit louder with throttle (not at idle)
you can notice the difference in power gain at about 20 mph from a stop with it floored while keeping in mind i have exhaust
looks much better and the filter is very high quality

im most likely running the 1/4 mile this wednesday to see the improvement from before.. my best was a 16.8 at 80- hopefully that will improve..

also; would u bother removing the headlight assembly (where the JR kit takes air from) in hopes of it getting a little bit more air for a 1/4? im not too sure.

hope this helps everyone out a little bit. let me know what you think.

Please keep us posted of your results. I am considering the JR or the full kit. I already have a K&N filter so I am thinking of just doing the tube.

Bought the K&N Cold Air Intake, $251 to my front door. K&N started the technology of cold air intakes, so why not use the best? Buy a $35K truck and install a second rate cold air intake? So far I am very impressed with the K&N. It definitely has the sucking sound when you gas it. Sounds exactly like the old Rochester 4 Barrel Carbs of the 60's with the air cleaner lid inverted. You older guys can relate to this I am sure. Will let everyone know what kind of mileage increase I experience. Power may be better, but I feel it is more physcological due to the sound that actually the power. Kinda like clipping a card on a bicycle wheel to have it flap on the spokes. The sound is neat, just doesn't do that much for actual power. That is my first impression.

Installed the Airaid Cold air intake this weekend and I couldn't be happier.
It was a piece of cake to install and it made a world of difference. I have MagnaFlow dual cat back exhaust with the intake and it's like I'm driving a different truck. I lucked out and waited until the local 4x4 shop had a sale got the intake for $231 after tax. And yes that is the full system not the Jr. it was 30% off . Anyway anybody thinking of adding an intake do it you won't be sorry. Yes its louder when you are in the gas but the power and torque increase are worth it. Besides I think it makes it sound better.
Just my opinion for what its worth.

Now I just have to buy the leveling kit and I'm done with the upgrades until I need new tires.
