I have the Airaid and a Gibson exhaust. The thing I noticed the most was a little quicker throttle response. Waiting for the SuperChips programmer to show up this week to complete "the set". Like a kid at Christmas!

I installed the Airriad cold air intake systems as well as the poweraid throttle body spacer and flowmaster exhaust then chipped it and I can tell a huge difference in HP/TQ gains. Only drawback is the throttle body spacer emits an irritating whine at certain throttle pressures.

I really want to support MotorHaven but the prices has to be a little more competative. I asked her if she was correct about the cost she said yes, I told her but isn't that a little steep? she said.... yea, I guess???
Thank you for the info, bye bye now!
You probably got Sue, a part-timer. She's not up on the pricing, Club FTE, etc. She's a shipping person who covers the phone when everyone is out to lunch, etc. Unfortunately, she's not authorized to make pricing decisions. Contact me via the private message system with the application you need and I'll give you the price. We're working on getting those prices corrected but over 200 items were entered in with MSRP as the price so its going to take some time.

I've an Airaid on mine with no problems. I think most of it is installation error. You HAVE to follow the instructions to the T. I have no complaints with it & sounds great with my Banks cat-back!

All... installed Airaid (correctly) at 10k, now at 20k... with no probelms. The check engine light was coming on for some based on the seal. While installing, that's the area that you need to pay attention to. Because of the angle, it's hard to get your arm(s) and body over the engine with enough down force to get the airaid intake to seal properly. Do-able, but something to watch for. My mpg's increased by +/- 2 and the sound/power increase is great - better with my recently installed flowmaster 70.

Good Luck! My opinion, it's worth it!

Ken, thanks for the response but I ordered mine ..just havn't installed it yet. complete kit for $179 free shipping too. But I'm looking for other stuff and plan on giving MotorHaven the first shot at fulfilling those orders. Funny thing was, I paid extra for 2 day shipping with FEDEX and it took 7 days so I contacted that company and they're giving me 25% off my next order with them for fedex's screw-up.

I too just installed my full Airaid intake, and WOW! The sound improvement is worth it alone. Normal driving is virtually the same, but when you put some load on the motor, it's sweet music. The throttle response gain is VERY impressive. Overall, I didn't get a huge feel in power gain over the already installed Superchips 1714 on the high performance tune, but it's still there. I am a big appearance nut, so the look of the intake was also a big plus for me. The appearance difference alone is huge...you can actually see the engine now!

The more and more I mod this truck, the more and more I wonder what the heck was Ford thinking with the gear ratios of this tranny. What a joke! It might as well be a 3 speed. It'll turn nearly 85mph in 2nd gear, with 3.73s. This truck needs 4.30s with that much of a 2nd gear. Even 1st gear is really tall, but nothing like 2nd. My wife's 04 Explorer w/ the 4.6 would wax my 5.4 stock for stock, and mainly because of the gearing. The 5 speed auto mated with the 4.6 in the Explorer is incredible. The RPM drop between shifts is only 1200 RPM, not over 2,000 RPM like the 5.4 from 1-2.

Black, contact Ken (webmaster) first. If he can't match I give you the web address. I think we should all do our part to support the sponsors of FTE first. Geeez, they help give us this great site to come and Bit*h, cry, moan, whine, inform, share, PICK ON!, make fun of, flame, joke, learn and celebrate our awesome (sometimes) trucks, suv's and cars.

If this can be matched...I'd be in for a purchase probably along with others in a group buy? Can someone update as to the feasibility of this at $179?

Thanks,

T

I had a friend install an AEM intake on his car. The engine light did come on for awhile, but after the computer adjusted to the new level of air the light went back out.
