'92 Explorer 4x4 light

'92 Explorer 4x4 light

I just got a '92 Explorer thats in pretty good shape I've replaced the fuel pump and a few other things but I need to know if when you take it out of 4x4 Hi is the light suppose to go completly out or stay dim like mine. If not any idea what it might be.

Its either still in 4 Hi or the switch that controls the light is stuck . Do you have the electric shift on the transfer case ?

I jacked up the front end and it is in 2x4 the front hubs are unlocked. It is an electric shift, it's just that when it is in 4x4 the light is bright and when you press it to go to 2x4 you hear it click and the light just goes dim.

Yeah , that sounds more like a wiring / switch problem . There should be a switch located on the front of the transfer case that turns that light off & on . Check its wiring & the switch .
