Hmm I have two good divorced NP-205 Cases, might as well try to twin stick one of them...being able to engage/disengage the front axle while in low range without having to get out to unlock the hubs would be nice. Wonder if it would be easier to modify two original T-case shifters instead of shelling out 105 bucks for new ones.
nope, the 79 np205 will work in your truck, ford was very nice and used the same bolt pattern and input spline count for a long time in their fullsize pickups.
I did the swap in my 93. I'd have to say the NP205 eats up a little more power than the BW, It's REALLY HEAVY, noticed no extra noise from the tcase. As far as installation, grinding the notch is not bad, use the housing gasket as a template. I rebuilt my tcase in a couple days (few hours each day) bought the kit off ebay for like $100 or somethin. You will have to fab up a frame mount to support the case (don't really want almost 200lbs of cast iron pulling down on an aluminum housing). Not that bad of a swap besides the how much the thing weighs.
