Do a search on the Offroad forum. It has been discussed a bunch in there. On the fords it is done to the np205 transfer case. It separates the front and rear. It gives a bunch of shifting options such as front wheel drive, 2 wheel low, and of course the normal stuff. It can be handy but somewhat expensive. I haven't needed it yet, so it isn't a mod I have placed much priority on, althought it would be nice. Anyway, hope this helps. Ted
The mod is practially free, if you have a NP205 that is. All you need to do is grind the detents larger on the shift rail closest to the tcase input (it has to be removed to do this). And then fab up some shifters. This effectivly gives you FWD HI, FWD LO, RWD HI, RWD LO, 4x4 HI, 4x4 LO. And if done correctly you will not beable to have one in hi and one in lo at the same time

Can you go into a little more detail on that, if it's that easy, so to speak, is there a web site that explains this with a pictorial???

Well as a matter of fact I happen to have such a site . . . http://ivanribic.clubfte.com/page2.html It took me all of an hour to do the actual mods to the shift rails. The rest of my time was spent cleaning and painting the case and replacing all the seals (I figured I'd do it while I had the case out anyway). I bought the sticks but they can be made fairly easy if you're too cheap to buy them. I even had mine chromed (bling bling!). If you've got questions on it post them or e-mail me.
EDIT: There are several other cases that this can be done with but to my knowlege the 205 is the only case that Ford used which has the twin stick ability. I could be wrong on that though. Many of the jeep cases can have this done and I know there are other's too though I'm not familiar with the models.
Crawl under there and look at it! Most should have an ID tag on them unless it's been removed. 205 will have that little plate in the back with 3 bolts in it. You may have a Dana 24 in yours, not certain. But the best way is to get under there and have a look. If it doesn't have a tag and you can't ID it snap a couple pics and post them up so we can figure it out.
Yes, but it will take some mods. First, you need to grind a notch for the shifter in the collar. Next, you need driveshafts. You also need a frame mount for the 205.

I'm pretty sure that my local parts yards will haveall the parts, but whats the notch you're speaking of?? I'm gussing it's rather simple.
