I bought an Excursion and it has the touch pad to unlock the doors. The seller does not know the code so is there a way that I can reprogram it? If so how? I do not know if it was dealer installed or factory, does it make a difference?
i think you have to have the old code to program in a new one. i had that keyless entry on my SHO, if i remember right the code was somewhere on the car , like on one of the door jams, or in the trunk. i think it said in the manual where to find the code.
When I sold ford's way back they were in the trunk on the strut and under the hood but the old code is not to be found on this truck so I figured there had to be some way????
The code is on a tag on the PATS system module .
I think it is behind the plastic panels in the rear quarter panels not sure which side .
You might want to ask in the excursion forum .
"on edit Damion its on the vehicle security module located behind the radio and heater controls. also the selling dealer can use a factory scan tool to retrieve the code for you.

Well fortyfords I looked behind the radio and no luck. The Ford customer hotline said it was on the Keyless module but they did not know where that was. I called 2 dealers and both said it was no where on the truck but they would be glad to charge me 80 bucks + tax to pull it out of the computer, that was when I called Ford. I will do without it before I pay one of the crooks at the dealership.
I am going to call some friends and see if they know where the keyless module is.
it is an 01 I was azz deep under the dash with the radio and the fues cover and the great bag hanger all out and nothing had a #. OK lots of #'s and I think I punched every one in lol.
Try looking between the dash and firewall, left of the brake pedel, crammed up in there should be a box looking unit with a label on it with numbers (5 numbers). Thats where it was on my Expedition.
If i remember correctly, once the code it entered and the doors unlock, press 1 then 2 then your new code set. Its been awhile but i think thats how its done.
Keep in mind that both codes will now open the truck, since the factory code cannot be erased. Hope this helps.
Daimon ,Did you unbolt it and flip it over ? don't diconnect it though !!!!!
according to the manual its on it someplace ,again unless the module had been changed . Also if someone had entered their own code , you will need to do as the above poster had said about .entering the code and following the reprogram sequence in the shop manuals.
Heck I can hardley touch the thing lol. I called a friend who used to work at a ford shop tomorow he is going to sneak me into the shop and a friend of his is going to do it for free! Thanks for the info!!!!
