SBV45, I know the truck build date was 3/04 so i am assuming the engine build date was right around the same time period. Where can i look to find out? Thanks for the help and any other additional information. Is it possible that this could still be the same problem?
It's typically at the back end of the engine on the drivers side...
Open the hood, stand right by the rear hinge by the drivers door and peak thru the hnge toward the back of the engine... some are yellow, some are white... but all have a LARGE bar code and below it will be something like
14 Apr 03 to indicate that one is an April 14 built engine...

At the bottom of this great page is a pic of hitecdan's :
Your engine is probably an 04, but it has a different turbo and turbo pedestal. I would certainly take it in and go on a test drive with the diesel tech. Insist on the drive to demo the problem. Be polite but firm.
