Have a question for the smart group......FTE members....with the above problem. is it possible that the fuel pump is over driving in some way to continue to cause injector problems for THIS engine....I am not saying all...just this instance, we know high oil PSI when cold can accelerate potential issues….what about an erratic fuel pump
Maybe low fure pressure. As long as there is enough to fill the injectors between cycles It should be ok. The fuel system has a bypass regulator that all excess fuel is returned to the tank so the pump does have excess capacity if working properly .

If it is on the very low side of capacity then what would happen to the injectors.
One of the comments or checks that the service order had on it was the wire chaffing issue. Non was found. The truck does not run like a wire chaffing. It is very predictable whenever it happened.
I have an '04 6.0L with 3.73's. My engine makes a particular drone above the sound of normal "diesel sound". It happens AT APPROX 60-70 MPH AT BETWEEN 1600 and1900 RPM. and only other slight load. It does not sound like the typical sound at the bottom of overdrive gear. Does anybody else eperience this. It does not happen in any other gear at same rpm's or at any other RPM range.
This truck is the only one that comes out of the shop dirtier than when it went in!!!! On all my GM cars, any service work at all, the cars came out cleaner than before. Most of the time they have been washed, vacumed and windows cleaned. Not abused, soiled, and returned.
I do not want to get off the subject, but it boils the blood in my veins, to see a 40k truck treated at the dealer as if it was a piece of junk. I have clear plastic carpet coverings, a white cover on the drivers sear back and a beach towel on the drivers seat bottom. Last time I took it in the mechanic jsut sat in it like if he owned it. Did not place paper mats, no plastic seat coverings either, when he sat on the divers seat the towel fell off and his dirty greasy bottom was all over my Lariat beige leather. I held my breath walked away and swallowed it. This thursday I'll be going back for the drag link install and will be watching with a hawks eye.
I don't mean to be a pain in the neck, but already with an 2004 f150 that I had, one of the service guys was leaning on it, making a personal call on his cell phone while his belt buckle was scratching it. I ran up to him to bring it up to his attention and he was like, doh i'm sorry.
Sorry for the venting, my wife drives an Infinity and gets a free wash even if they just rotate the tires. When I tell her about my ordeals her answer is "thats what you get for buying a ford".
There is something you can do, when ever you rent a car you are supposed to inspect it before leaving the lot.....Well it works both ways...I ask the service writer to inspect my truck with me, I point out the use of seat protectors and carpet covers..........then I say I know you are very conscientious and you will make sure it is returned in the same condition............it works every time.....you SET the standard, and now he knows it. I have gone as far... to show a very tiny spot on the carpet and say…it is the only one and it really bummed me out.
For those who say that should be part of the service anyway…I agree however it is not.... so protect your investment with a little bit of time.
6.0 sport, that sound you hear is turbo drone/moan. my truck does the same thing and now there is a fix out. Something to do with a new turbo pedestal. Call your dealer and make an appointment. If you do a search you will find some more info and possibly a part ##. hope that helps.

What is the build date of your engine? If it is 9/30/03 or earlier, there is a fix out for that. There is a service bulletin from Ford:
6.0 Moan/Droan Between 1500-2000 RPM:
Engineering has investigated this condition and found the cause to be engine firing pulses causing the turbo mounts to vibrate/resonate. There is a revised turbo pedestal for trucks built before 9-30-03--P/N 3C3Z-6N639-BA. Ensure the droan is not caused by a bound exhaust system. Inspect for any damaged or broken exhaust hangers. Check the turbo downpipe by loosening the pipe at the top and bottom, checking its alignment and retightening. If the droan is still present, check the part number embossed on the turbo pedestal just below the turbo compressor outlet to the intercooler. If the number IS NOT 1846207C1, replace the pedestal with the above part. After replacement, or if the number IS 1846207C1, loosen the turbo inlet pipes and EGR cooler flange and neutralize by installing the components in this order: snug the flange between the LH and RH inlet pipes; torque the EGR cooler clamp to 53 in/lbs; torque the pedestal bolts to 23 ft/lbs; torque the turbo inlet clamp to 9 ft/lbs: snug the inlet pipes to manifolds. Ensure all components are properly aligned. Torque the flange between the LH and RH inlet pipes to 20 ft/lbs and the inlet pies to the manifolds to 20 ft/lbs. Robert,
I would carefully document everything. Then I would go to the service manager and very firm but polite and calm, tell them your observations and what you want done.
I found greasy hand prints on my truck one time and I nicely complained about it. Now, they inspect the truck before like Tim posted. They put a plastic cover over the driver seat and paper mat on the floor. My truck is not spit and polish. I get it dirty. It has "mesquite tree pinstriping". But that is no reason for the dealer to leave greasy hand prints on the vehicle.
Go get em! Be firm but polite. Say "nice doggie" while you reach for a big stick!

I also have the lariet with tan leather, and the steering wheel is black when it comes back. My truck is by no means spotless, it is a truck that is used for working and playing. However, I paid for the truck, I, and only I, except for my wife and kids, will get it dirty. The service people's sole responsibility is to make my driving experience great. In no way should they detract from it. That is the same regardless if it is a 45k truck or a 12k compact car. Treat it with respect, I paid or am paying for it, without me and my type, you would be out of a job.
