Hi Sean...and welcome.

First off you will need to tell us about your truck.....what if any mods have been done to it etc..
Next, What problems in detail are you seeing.
And finally........what if any codes have been seen.
Then we will see where that takes us.

Hey, Sean. After you have supplied all the info needed for help from knowlegable members of this forum, someone here can probably help. If you find that you still need the help of a stealership, then there is one in this area that does most of the diesel work for the other local ford dealers. I have not yet had occasion to use them, but they have a good rep. It is Trans-West Ford in Fontana, CA.

thanks for all your help. i have an edge programer and full 4in exhaust along with all the nessary gages. other than that everything is stock. as far as my injector problems, sometimes the truck will run rough and shake and the engine sounds lik it has a rod nock. i have told the dealership what the problem is but they never seem to figure it out. also it dosent matter what power level it is on or even if it is on the stock setting. the truck has never thrown any codes though. now with the overheating problem, i pull a 28 ft inclosed trailer that weighs about 4700lbs empty and when i start to pull up a hill the temp slowly rises into the red. i had to pull over once to let it cool down and i puked coolant everyware. i have replaced the thermostat twice and installed a new fan cluch and it still overheats. i am woundering if it is the water pump but i dont know how to tell. also when it overheats going up a hill on the down side i can put it in neutral and let it idle and it usually cools right down. any input helps.

Okay, now we are discussing something seriously wrong. Many people can criticize some aspects of the PSD, but engine cooling is never one of them - these things have very efficient, very effective cooling systems.

Suggestions?

i live in southern california, and th last dealership checked the coolant for carbons and there were none so there isnt a blown head gasket.

Just a long shot here, but.

Could it possibly be that under the high load of an up hill climb that the higher boost, which raises the C.P. that the now higher C.P. are causing a weak gasket to leak, and then on the down hill side the pressures drop, and the weak gasket seals.

or maybe the head heats up more going up the hill, and possibly warping slightly and leaking, thus over heating it???
I would do a pressure check on the system too, just to satisfy myself that there isnt a leak, or possible cavitation issues.

the dealership pressure tested the system and they said it is fine. do you think it could be the radiator?

Well you said you replaced the T-stat already so I would think water pump next, the uphill/down hill thing is what tells me water pump, its not pumping enough to cool it under a higher load, but can once the load is gone, if you replace it yourself its fairly cheap and easy. If there arent any leaks then its the only next logical thing, I doubt the rad. is full of crap, but maybe, it would be my last thing to look at.

you guys will never guess why my truck has been overheating. a few months ago some friends and i went four wheelin' in some large mud holes. some how a ton (about10lbs) of mud got lodged in the radiator and intercooler fins. it took me about an hour to flush out all the mud, but now the truck dosent overheat.

i noticed all this mud while i was installing a new waterpump. thank for all your help guys.
