In the Atlanta GA area the police have light meters and anything that blocks more then 75% of the light gets ticketed and you have to have it removed. The problem is some factory tint fails the test.

I had a partial tint on my front windows and I did not like it. It made it hard to see to turn into a side street or my driveway. Maybe I should just get some turning lights off a Caddy...

Although I did run into a tint inspection up north. The cop had a meter in his car that measured the amount of light that passed thru you tint. If it was illegal, he gave you the ticket right there. No tint on windshields, no less then 50% in front side windows, and you could have 10% in back.....meaning nearly no light getting thru the tint.
The way I understand it, is if it's legal in your state of residence, then you can't get a ticket for it if you are out of state. States must recognize other state's laws.

Hmmm....
years ago when I still lived in Losing-Annie, I got a $200 ticket for my rear window tint ! course it was on my turbo sports car and it was the silver reflective stuff that blinds me now

Here in southern calie you can tint all windows except front driver, passsenger and windshield (strip is allowed). I have 25% tint on my f-250 crews front two windows, came from factory with privacy glass in rear. Matched up nicely. I have been pulled over several times, bald headed latino with loud music is cause for suspicion in my neck of the woods. I roll down all windows, and as polite, and respectful as can be, needless to say I've never got a ticket for tint.
