I have 2 toddlers who will sit in the back seat so I'm wondering if anyone has any ill feelings to Ford's factory window tint since my kids often complain about sitting in my car without window tinting. Does it do a good job at keeping the sun out of the back seat?
The factory rear window tint does not provide UV protection. It is only for looks. I never would have believed it other than the local tint shop that my body shop does business with all the time put me up to the test. They told me that if the interior of my truck was not cooler after tint was installed they would give it to me for free. So for a week I checked the temp. right before going to lunch. Had the windows tinted and then check the temp for the next following week. It was considerably different....I will say that the out side temp was warmer after it was tinted. So it makes a difference..... I put the medium tint all the way around. It does make the back dark without feeling like a drug dealer.
babys-r-us has this simple cling on tint(from the inside/eddie Baure brand) I put on in the middle where my infant was facing backwards... If you have pantience.. no bubbles. Easily removable.
After a few years of scraping your windows at -30c your tint is gonna mar up like a cat scratching post and that does little for your view let alone looks.
Usually a heat gun and straight edge blade will remove it but it's a hassle and I elected not to replace it after removal.
Mind, maybe tints are more robust than 10 years ago but I doubt it, it's just a film.
For you southern boys & gals without such inclement weather, I suppose the hot summers would make tint essential.
Heh heh, believe me, at that temp you'll find scraping the inside of the windows a common occurence, especially from breath moisture from pax and critters before truck warms up.
This is WAY off OP and I won't labour this past this entry.
You don't have a problem, that's great.
I've had problems, i.e. leave hound in truck, go into grocery store, come back, scrape windows inside.
Use a credit card, little grief, use an ice scraper, tint gets screwed. Does this need explaining?
Heh, heh, this is fun but all I offered was a warning not a DO NOT TINT mandate.
Thanks.
Cheers.
