I am new to the site. I have just purchased a F-250 Crew cab FX4 6.0L. About two days after getting the truck I started to noticed a noise when turning left and only left. It sounds like a rubbing noise. Took the truck in to Ford and they said nothing was rubbing, and could not find any apparent damage parts. The mechanic did mention that he thought it might have something to due with the "hydrobooster", what ever that is. He mentioned that he had sent a post into the Ford message board and was waiting on ford to answer. This was a month ago.
Has anyone here had this problem and if so what IS IT??????? and How do I get it FIXED?????
The noise is very annoying, special when backing up trailers.
hey how you doing i have the same problom and i brought it to my ford dealer and they put in my vin # and everything and it came back with a report check the thread about rear end clunk its not a rear end clunk its the front when taking lefts but thats the thread that talks all about it. ford knows about and says there is no fix and it should be atempted to be fixed
Here you go read this thread it talks all about it and i posted the exact print out that ford gave me stating all this check out the thread and let me know what you think...
From what I read from your earlier post, everyone is getting a clunk sound. Mine is not a clunk but more of a rubbing sound. I do not feel anything different in the steering nor do I feel anything in the floor. I just hear the rubbing sound and it is annoying.

A/your hydro booster is the power unit for your brakes.. Instead of vacuum being used to 'assist' braking, hydraulic pressure from the power steering pump is supplied to the hydro booster for brake/pressure assist..
Is your noise 'constant' when holding the steering wheel into a 'left' turn..(without anymore turning) Or, does it make a rubbing sound as the wheel is turned.. Any chattering when turning, along with the noise?? in either direction..
Did your mechanic varify the noise?? Hear it himself.. And does it make the noise at all times..Cold/Hot?? Does it only have this condition when turning left with the brakes applied??
mine only makes the noise when i am moving. and i drive 45 miles each way and it makes a little clunk just as i turn in from work at home and i would say its nice and warm 75 on the highway for 45 min -50 min.i have no sound as the wheel is turning except the clunk all else is nice ans smooth. it is constant in the fact that you can preatty much plan on it doing it 80% of the time..i have sat in the drive way even tonight and got under the truck and grabed and shook every part i could see to check if it was loose. i took off the front driver wheel and chcked everything in there to make sure it was all nice and tight, no play more then normal in a 4wheel drive. it is defanantly only when tires are moving i have turned and rolled in the drive way over and over. any help or input is always great. thanks in advanced
I have not been able to hear the noise when sitting still, but as soon as I begin to move in a left turn I will start hearing the sound and it is mostly constant. At one time I thought it had something to due with brake calipers maybe sticking, but he mechanic did not think that was it. The mechanics have all heard the noise.
yup mine has heard it to ford has heard it and they say its a part of the engine and there should not be any atempts to fix but i dont my that. im sitll holding out for somthing to be uncovered.
