I have a annoying squeek, rubbing noise coming from under the front somewhere. The brakes are fine and look good. The guy I bought the truck from said he had it into Ford and they couldn't find anything. Twice! It doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes no noise at all, but there is no determine factor or condition when it decides to squeek. I noticed two grease nipples at front. What kind of grease is best to use, is there many more grease fittings to grease up whilst I am at it and any clue on the annoying noise!!!!!
Thanks, Shane
I always use red grease, because that's what my uncle (a truck driver) used on everything on his truck, and he easily will put 2 million miles on a truck.
I'm not sure if there are any more nipples, but check a chiltons/haynes manual, it will tell you if there are any more.
You should only have the ball joint fitting (Maybe) tie rod end ETC, u joints (maybe) Theses should cause no squeal what so ever.
If the bearing are good it may be you pads . I went though 6 set till I got a Ford set and the squealing and dust went away. They can be in good shape but the metal content may be off in mix . Good luck
the squeak could be missing a bolt on a fender, loose door hinge, hood latch, seat, or any component that bolts to the frame that might be loose. They could all sound like under the truck. Does it only squeak over bumps or when brakeing or excelerating?
Note: I use a red grease that is a synthetic grease, I think Exxon makes it but I'm not sure, I got it at Autozone. I have have no problems with it.
The noise doesnt happen with bumps or braking, just when driving slow, like up to 20mph. Anything faster than that I cant hear because of driving noise.
