TSB's for 6.0 PowerStroke

Are the number of TSB's usual for Ford engines? Is the new PowerStroke a reliable engine? I am looking at an F350, but I don't want a gasoline engine. I know my Ford friends don't like the Cummins engine, but it's the only one I have any experience with. I would like to find out that the new PowerStroke is close to as reliable as my old Cummins. Please help?

Larry,
Welcome to FTE, there is a lot of information on this board. There will be users with their share of problems as this board draws owners with problems looking for help. There are also a lot of us owners very happy with our truck. There are also a lot of owners driving their PSDs everyday and not visiting this board. My truck has over 5,000 miles and I'm completely happy with it. In addition to reading all this info my suggestion to help you would be to fuel up at a truckstop sometime. I use a Flying J and there are plenty of PSD owners fueling up there. I always chat it up while filling up and they are a nice bunch of people, they will tell you how they are enjoying their truck and if they are having any problems. Again, welcome to the site and let us know if you have anymore questions...Deac

I just went out to http://www.alldata.com/TSB/ where they list TSB's and recalls. There wasn't much there for 2004, so I looked at 2003. Both Ford and Dodge had 15 TSB's listed. Chevy had 93 listed.

I suspect the numbers on this site. It depends who you talk to about Dodge vs Ford. I have relatives and neighbors with the Dodge truck. Heard stories of transmission problems with the Dodge. I like the interior on the Ford better when I looked at them. I have no problem with the reliability of the Ford diesel. A few here that frequent this site will tell you the opposite.

That is a culmination of updates that are available. Most people do not have any of those issues and others may have one or two. Myself, I have had a serpentine belt idler pulley bearing go bad and the infamous rear main seal replaced. Both are manufacture failures and not not really FMC's issue unless you can blame them for another manufacture's deficencies. The rear main may be that they just used a new design that did not work out.

Larry the 6.0 is a strong running engine , but the reliablity is still not proven lots of little problems, sensors ,hoses, electrical problems, computer gliches, most are great but many have problems.

LARRY
That would be great news to me but some of the die hard 6.0 guys will be screaming foul, ford has to do something or they will lose ther market share, thats why people bought the super dutys in the first place dependablity not racing ability, I mean stop and think about it how much power is enough, when you compare the new engine to the ones 10 years ago. for me they could just drop the cummins in a ford and I would be a happy camper.
