I presently own a 2002 2500 Dodge with a Cummins (old 24valve). I have a few mods such as chip, 5' exhaust and cold air. I am thinking of trading it for a new powerstroke. I've heard that there are a lot of seals in the new engine and things are hidden and hard to get to if you want to do any mods. Can anyone who has driven both a Cummins and a new Stroke tell me how each equates. I would like an unbiased opinion but being the minority... I don't know if I will get it. No offense to anyone. Thanks.

What mods? Most of us have not seen the 6.0L Powerstroke. Except for a very few, I don't think the new engine has has been delivered to the dealers yet.
You may have to wait a little while longer???
I'm not really sure if there are any more seals in the new Power Stroke engine than any other engine (unless you count 32 valve guide seals). The components are hidden inside the engine, that is true, although I'm not sure that is a bad thing (it will keep it from leaking all over your garage floor). All the gaskets are modular style or O-ring style. There is no RTV sealant on the oil pan to leak and the modular pan gasket appears to be reusable as are the valve cover gaskets. The Power Stroke engine is not an engine that you have to take apart to modify -- you just wait until the aftermarket has a chip available.
I recommend that you go take a look at the new 6.0L Power Stroke and drive one. And check out the new 5 speed Powertorque automatic transmission while you are at it.
Please, however, accept my oppologies. My opinion is NOT unbiased by anybody's definition.

Some days I wish like heck there was a time limit on dead threads. All these posts do is clutter up the board and make it harder for folks to sift through what is something worth commenting on, only to click on a thread that has was brought back from beyond the grave with a post that has nothing, I repeat nothing, to do with a 6.0

You think a MOD could dump this stuff, or file it under useless.
