That depends on what you want... For the average Joe, that is plenty... Most hackers (young kids) wont waste much time tryin to get past that much.. For those that really want into your computer, little will stop them...
First go here https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 , and scan your computer and see what result you get , if you computer passes this test then , yeah , your pretty sefe .
If not where did it fail ? Set about to fix that problem/s .
Really the chance of you being hacked is slim , but there is a chance so better safe than sorry .
You always must keep up to date with your OS updates also, get in the habit of checkin every week or so .
You only really need the security one's .
If your router has a firewall , all the better , if not , then when you have the $ , get one with a firewall built in .
i have road runner and i am using linkeys cable router it has a firewall, but its not all its cracked up to be...i added nortons internet security .2oo4,..firewall and virus protection...plus other things... it seems to do its job....
MikeW, what kind of router do you have? I have a D-link, it comes with the encryption disabled to make it easier to get it up and running, I had to manually enable it, and I'm running ZoneAlarm Pro, McAfee, Spybot, and AdAware. Plus I check the Gibson Research site every now and again, so I feel fairly safe, but I'm still careful. Ford1987blue, thanks for that link, I bookmarked it. -TD
tiger dan i see that you are using macfee. i was running the professional version until 2-weeks ago,some-how the firewall kept getting turn off...while i was online... i then switched to norton's ...i just wanted to mention that to you...
xp-pro

norton's inter-net security 04
spy bot
roadrunner
and other undisclosed goodies

I've had no such problems, everything seems to work and play well together! I've read some things by real computer geeks, (and my brother is one, and he agrees) that Norton has a lot of problems, a lot of these guys recommend McAfee. But thanks for the heads-up. -TD
I have a linksys router, zonealarm free version and Mcafee. Haven't had much problem yet. I'm paranoid since I'm on fiber and I pinged myself and found out I'm 5x faster than cable, which made me really paranoid of the amount of damage that could be done in a short period of time.
im not sure but when i was online mcafee firewall would pop-up and ask if i was sure that i wanted to turn it off...this happen serval times..it spooked me.... all updates were current.....why it it did this i don't know....
f=250, Did you run spybot, adaware and virus check. If something keeps asking to turn itself off, and only online, it could mean you've been owned by some hacker.

Ok, since I have ZoneAlarm, I don't use McAfee's firewall, only the antivirus. I really don't know what could have caused that problem for you, but I've been OK so far. My mom has the same setup on hers, and she works online, has her computer on and connected to the internet about 10-12 hours a day...no major problems (so far...) -TD

that was my thinking too, and yes i run spybot and adaware...but ive have switch over to norton's , and norton's found a bunch of stuff that mcafee missed..no problems so far...
