93 f150 tweeter placement

Hi all. Its been a while since I've visted. The forum has changed. Heres my question. My sweetheart wife bought some Kodas for me and I'm looking for proven tweeter placement without serious fabrication. I want it fairly stealth so I'll probably need to mod. Anyone have an ideal "sweet spot" for a 93 f150? Thanks

in my 92 i have them about 1/3rd the way up in the a pillar facing the winshield. this provides a very nice stage height and depth. or you could put in kicks, but i believe that you have to move the hood release for the q logics. you want to make sure that the tweeters are very close to the same distance from your ears as your woofers or you will get a delay effect. hope this helps.

Do you have them surface mounted? So they are fairly visible? I'm looking for stealth. I have time alignment so may have a little flexibility and dont want to use kicks. I may try the A pillar with some velcro and move them around. Anyone else?

the key is to use double sided tape to play with tweeter placement. this makes it easier to move them around without drilling holes anywhere. they are fairly visible where they are at right now, but i'm thinking of placing the tweeters from my new component set where the dash meets the winshield to see what type of depth i get from them. i'll let you know how this sounds. also, did you get a component set or just tweeters?

I put mine at the top of the pillar and aimed them at my head. It helped "fill" the sound out. Up there, they are still visible (surface mounted) but dont stand out. If thin enough, cut the headliner at that point and instll inside.

Bill, its a set. Mids, tweets and xovers. I was contemplating somewhere on the door panel on or around the flat spot near the wingwindow aimed at the listener. I'm not sure exactly how or if its even a good idea that close to a window. prcrboy, does the set sound good with the tweeter that far from the mid? Seems like you would be able to pinpoint it dead on.

you do not want to aim the tweeter directly at the listener. it will make the tweeter overbearing. if you aim it into the windshield, it gives a very nice stage depth and height. like i said before, you want the tweeter and woofer the same distance from your ears for optimal sound.

When you say aimed into the windshield that would put the tweet further away from the listener than the mid if its in stock door location. Forgive me, this will only be my second comp set. The first is in all factory locations and the tweeter is aimed at the listener in a car. Thats why I assumed aimed directly at the listener.

Bill is right about the aiming. However, to do this mounting options are limited. To point at the windshield is ideal, but I just didnt like the postions in order to acheive this. I mounted mine where I did because of ease of wiring, aiming and mounting and it works surprising well. I cant pinpoint because in that area, they are almost exact same distance as the mids are. I pointed mine to center of truck also to help with this.

Take some two sided tape like suggested and just experiment. Find a location that works for your ears!! Everyones is different and where I like mine, you may not.

I got the comps today and the tweeters can only be surface mounted or flush. No room for adjustment (swivel) so I'd better get it right the first time I guess. Anyone know how to determine which terminal is - or +? One terminal on each has a bit of yellow paint on it. Could this be +? Thanks for all the suggestions. I've heard that these tweeters were designed for off axis install, so maybe I'll put them in the door.
