Nope. They said the new design was on backorder for several weeks. He received a reconditioned old one. They said they was going to put the new design in. Because we made it a point to mention the new design. The truck is doing good witht he new turbo. And he put in a boost gauge to monitor how high it gets in case the tube blows off again.
I went as far as pop riviting the blue tube to the clamp and then putting the clamp on. And it still blew off tearing the blue boot. I designed a bracket out of steel bar stock that goes around the aluminum tube and bolts to the alternater bolt. I just took the bolt off , installed the brace support bracket and tightened the bolt back down. I believe this bracket keeps the tube from moving back off the blue boots. And being that it is installed on the altenator it moves witht he engine. I liked the idea so much I made a bracket for my 06 and installed it. Probaly dont need it but I dont trust the Ford engineers anymore. They can't even design a simple tube that doesn't blow off.
Well, the Ford Field Engineer came in to look at my truck today. He and the head tech spent most of the afternoon on it. The verdict is the EBP sensor. They THINK that will fix the problem and no issues were found with the turbo itself. Now I thought, from reading the other threads here, that the EBP was related to bucking, turbo sneeze, surging, etc. I did not know that high boost could also be caused by it. If it works, great. If it doesn't, I'm driving it back to the used truck lot and leaving it there. My three days of vacation are over tomorrow. Thanks Ford.
Mine is in getting the newest Turbo (second replacement) and new Intercooler hoses and clamps. The ICP sensor was leaking oil so it was replaced. I still have an engine leak that they are looking for and now I have a front driveline axle seal leaking.
FORD's Better Ideas!!!!!!!!
Armon'e
Did I mention I only have 36,000 miles on it in almost 4 years.
Chili7 that sucks man. I have been there done that with my 04. I felt like driving that truck through the dealerships front window. The truck was a great truck but had these minor issues that disrupted both my vacations last year. And I work to hard for that time off with my family. Call Ford and your area Rep to make them aware of your problems and disatisfaction. I did. And ended up getting some extra money to purchase a new 06. I was happy with the deal and the 06 is completly different than the 04. Not one problem so far.
Wildcat: Can you tell us more about the "deal" that they offered you so we have a starting point in which to negotiate from. I would greatly appreciate it.
Well, I just got my truck back and I have to say the different is amazing. Replacing the EBP sensor has smoothed this bad boy out completely. It almost purrs. No turbo whine at all, no surging, better acceleration and quieter. The service guy said that they found a fair amount of carbon on the old one and that a new one brought up all the readings they were looking at as the source. He also said to use a cetane booster to keep this one clean, but I already do thanks to you guys. And, they did the right thing. They left the paperwork open until I have a chance to tow my 5'ver and put it through it's paces. They said they're happy when I'm happy. Can't beat that with a stick. I even had a little of that 6.0 grin going on my way home. Here's hoping it stays there.
I threatened my local customer service rep with a lemon law suit. Now I knew that the truck did not qualify for a lemon law. Here is what thhey offered me. They gave me x-plan pricing on the truck plus all incentives at the time of purchase. Plus an extra $2500.00 for what they said would be loyalty cash for staying with ford. Now it came to my trade for the 04. I demanded that they give me fair market value for my trade. Not wholesale. I told them I wanted right in the middle of wholesale and retail according to KBB. And that is what they did. The truck was an F-350 Lariet SRW MSRP was $51,185.00. I received x-plan price minus $6,250.00 in rebate. Which brought the truck total to $38,998.00 After my trade I was down to $11,500.00 difference. Which I was happy with. Even if I qualified for a lemon law I would have not been much better by the time I paid for the mileage used. Anyway I was happy with the deal and I am very happy with the 06. So for that difference I bought a 2 year newer truck that had an msrp of $5,000.00 more than my 04 and went from a 250 to a 350. They started by offering the x-plan as there first chance at making me happy. And I told them I already get that. That is when we came up witht he extra rebate. You can find an x-plan pin from somebody on the internet.
Chili7: The new program does not require any information from the EBP sensor and basicly calculates the EB from the other readings. I assume that is what they have done instead of replacing the sensor itself. But then again we just never know with FROD oops FORD.
Sorry for that
Actually no I'm not not untill they fix my truck for good.
Enomra: I guess they can tell you anything they want and that's what they said. Tomorrow is the true test. I've able to blow that hose at will. Whatever they did seems to have made a noticible difference. It it enough? We'll see.
I gave her all I could and she just wouldn't blow. Up and down the hills we have here in COS (900ft) and kept the revs over 3k for 5 minutes on a big one. I'm not saying I'm out of the woods yet, but things sure look better.
Chili7: I might have given you the wrong information. The new programing that deletes the EBP sensor is for 03 and some 04's at least that is what I am beeing told. So it is very possible that you did receive a new EBP sensor. depending on when yours was made. again instead of fixxing the probleam FROD oops FORD programs around the problems. I have never heard of a company doing this as much as they are.
Bob? Is this really you? Or are you someone else pretending to be you?
Back in the 6.0 business?
Lots of questions...e-mail me and let me know how you are doing.
Hey, did you notice that Lamkin assigned me to be the 6.0 forum mod? Said it would be easy...no problem. Then he offered me mucho grande $$$$ to be a 6.0 / 6.4 / General Diesel moderator. Ifound out much latter that it was Monopoly money ...I got him back though....I accepted.
Wow Keith! They must be in bad shape to make you a moderator!
Hey it is coming around to another Dove season. You willing to invite me again? I won't stand you up this time
I hear ya, but is fixing the hose the solution for this problem? Why are you/me getting that kind of boost if the turbo is working correctly? That's my question. The other side of this is if it's a known issue, why is Ford so slow to make the necessary fixes, but that's another thread prolly. They have one more try. Three and yer out. I'm not trying to reinvent the world here, but if I can't trust the truck with my family inside, that's a problem. I love this truck and that may be a bad thing.
Sorry about the delay but the answer is that these trucks will put out boost on occasion with the right circumstances, (load, rpm, temperature and so on" that will exceed the design of the hose clamp setup. Ford has a repair, different type of hose that they did for me, under warranty.
The rumor of me driving a Vespa is not true, although I have driven one many years ago. I did sell my PSD and am currently driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee which rides much better and is easier on my very bad back. I had been counting on Ford building the 4 liter 1/2 ton diesel. It just didn't happen.
I still get an e-mail notification every now and then. Chili7 sounded like he needed help and knowing how little help you guys can be, decided I would help him
