Nobodys responding because they stay in the Chevy forum.......Must be nice to have so much time on your hand that you can sit in the Ford forum just to make yourself feel better about your bad truck choice.

If you will read closely, I addressed your question about the running light. The truth is that no one to date has built an incandescent bulb that will burn indefinitely. The reason you see one out on the vehicles is because people will not change them and are waiting for the other one to burn out. I am not pro chevy or pro Dodge. I own Fords. I drive Fords. That does not neccessarily mean I have to have my vision clouded with Blue ovals. Come on, IF Chevy and Dodge were as bad as some of you guys make them out to be, they would have gone out of business years ago. I look at issues un-biased. If, in my opinion, Ford has the best of a particular product, I will say so; but if on the other hand, i do not think they do, I will say so. Look objectively at the product lineup of the big 3. Each of them has their year they build the best product. All three of them have built some real winners and some real junk.

What chevy owners are you talking about that are getting worked up by jokes? there hasnt even been any joking or poking fun, except for Dmax-HD's(that was pretty funny) and a few of you got all serious. Actually, I expect people poking fun and joking about other brands. As long as someone is respectful and at least trying to be unbias I have no problem with them, Ford, chevy or dodge fan. This Forum is Ford vs The competition, competition being the key word.

On the chevy running light issue:
My dad's 2000 silverado had one burned out within 10,000 miles. I truely believe they do have an overheating issue. But who cares? It's DRL, a useless feature anyway IMO. I say, let the other one burn out and be done with it.

On the chevy person issue:
Most chevy people I've talked to are firm in their belief to the point of arrogance. I dont mean they have a simple opinion, they truely believe that theirs is the right, correct, true, and dare I say rightous belief and if someone else has ANY differing opinion, they are either stupid, misinformed, or blind. It's that uppity attitude that set me against Chevy. "Take off the blinders!" I've heard it too many times. They think their beloved SBC is the best thing since sliced bread, and anything that Ford made is pure junk. I cant even talk to these people about my projects, since it ends up coming down to "You cant find parts for that," and "It costs too much to build one of those!" I try and talk about individuality and doing something different, and it's a concept that they simply cant get through their head. It simply doesn't register. I get this dumb look. It's sad, really. I guess it all goes back to herd mentality, which I and other true Ford guys dont follow.

Note: I wasn't talking about anyone on this board, just Chevy guys in general, so dont start.

I have noticed that too. Do you have to special order it with one running light out? Or do they come that way? It is sooooooooooooooooooo weird.

Theres a great bunch down to earth guys here, and others that kinda go out of line of talkin about chevy trucks and how its not a workable truck but i own one and work it to the fullest and to this day i havent had any problems with it so far, but the brand bashing can continue i dont mind at all cause i happen to drive one of those brands.
Piston slap occurs not just chevy trucks but in trucks that have been abused or neglected by the owners i know my 89 Jeep has that piston slap and my step brothers 98 Ford has that sound but more of a clapping noise but a great guy said (drive a truck rugged or abusive and you'll get the same response).

You may not realize it(because you are a Ford enthusiast), but a lot of Ford guys are the same type of people as you stated above. And usually the people that say a brand "just sucks" are the people that are unsure of the brand they own.

Hey Mr. Goodwrench 8. Not too put down chevy here but there must be alot of abusive and neglectful people out there but the newer chevy engines are pretty rampant with this piston slap issue. A whole website devoted to this. Fords had some issues with this but not as extensive as GM has. And the new 2004 have it as well.

You may very well be right, but I've never seen it. Probably because that's the side of the fence I'm on. Notice, I never said chevy sucks. They have their problems, and Ford has theirs. I've seen 'em both. You can get good or bad vehicles and engines form either make. I've simply experienced, and seen, MUCH more arrogance from chevy people than ford people. Even in arguments which I simply overheard at the parts store. It could be a regional thing; I dont know. That's kind of what disassociated me from chevy; I simply did not want to be associated with that.

I made my choice a long time ago, and I'm sticking with it.

I know you never said chevy sucks, buying a truck really gets down to what you have experienced in the past and what you like the most.

Yeah, personal experience is always going to be the deciding factor, because it doesn't matter what's on paper, it matter what we see happen to trucks, and that's ultimately what we're going to base our opinions on.

Well said. I'd say I meet about the same percentage of brand blind folks for each brand. That really doesn't seem to be the majority of folks I know, though. Most of my friends are pretty open to whatever they think will do the job the best for them and often go to different brands.

The guy across the street from is a HUGE Ford guy but even he buys the occasional GM product.

Ive noticed that it runs in the family - I've got a friend that if he or anybody in his family buys a GM product it turns out to be a POS. Where as for me and my family if any of any of us buy a ford it dies within 100,000 miles. I know they are both good vehicles otherwise you would not have the debate that we have now. Just an observation.
