Boy this thread turned out to be ford chevy battle. Hey we all like our certain brands. To me I think Fords best but thats just me. I do get in to some arguments at times but try not to mean no harm to anybody. Ford and chevy can each thank each other for the competition. Makes for better trucks for everybody
Hammy I think he is far from a Troll because he is not saying anything we dont already know. EVERY Chevy we have had, although we have not had many, has given us problems. The first Chevy we had in the family was when I was 5. IT WAS IN THE SHOP 10 OF THE 12 MONTHS WE HAD IT. My parents got a Ford Escort GT after that, and ran it for 220,000 miles with only an alternator replacement and standard maintinance.
The next one was a Chevy 2500 HD that had the AXLE SNAP while driving down the expressway and towing a trailer that was only 3/4 of the Chevy's tongue weight and not even that of its towing capacity. We had it checked by the insurance company and they had the same results. Quality...
The next was my Uncle's, the S-10 I mentioned earlier, went to the shop 3 times after leaving him stranded 3 times, it turned out that the fuel pump was bad, but it took 3 times to figure that out? WTF?
Those are our Chevy's, the 3 in my close family that we have had, nothing but Ford's since then, we get 2 Ford's per year through my Step-dad, put 20-25k miles on each one, while not a lot, it has been trouble free, and each one has been driven longer than any Chevy we have owned without problems.
We also have an 89' F-150 with 230k miles on it, trouble free except for also an alternator drop out at 150k or so. Then another alternator at 200k (Our fault really, the replacement was a rebuilt alternator, not a Ford alt.)
We had a Ford Econoline van that towed the same trailer that F-d up that Chevy, and it had a big ol' 460, guess how many miles? 300k when we sold it, and last I heard it got an engine rebuild and is still going. Damn, Ford sucks.
So there is your proof, my Dad and Grandpa also owned a used car lot for about 10 years, and they saw it all, saw every messed up vehicle, and the one brand that needed the least amount of work before resale was Ford. We had almost no complaint from those that bought them as well.
As long as Ford does not let me or my family down, your damn right I will defend them, and so should anyone else.
Now I believe this thread was about lights, not general Chevy quality, every brand has that quirk they are known for, so get over yourself.
Hey Vulnox Excellent response there. Youve had good luck with your fords thats great. I have too. I defend them all the time they have never let me down.
Vulnox, I know he is not a troll but he was saying some pretty extreme stuff with no facts to back it up. Its to bad youve had bad luck with your chevys, Ive had great luck with mine. So if your Fords have treated you well, keep on buying them and defend them good for you. My chevys have treated me well and not the fords so I'll defend my chevys.
I think you were taking the thread a little too seriously I.E.: "so get over yourself" or "Damn, Ford sucks", If you were speaking directly to me, I have never said Ford sucks and chevy is the best in every aspect. I'm just saying that I like Chevys more than Fords, but Ford makes a good truck I am not denying that. thats just my opinion.
Now guys im not brand loyalty here, for me i drive what i can afford but with the 350 Chevy and stuff seems to me they've become very popular in aftermarket stuff hell everytime i turn to a channel concerning hot rods, a guy would have a 46 or vintage ford rodster describing every detail he put into it then when it comes time to show the motor POP theres a Chevy 350 big block or Small block, kinda weird but what the hell. GM has all sorts of size of motors to the 305 all the way up towards the Big Block ZZ 572 crate engine and please guys im just stating facts, giving some of are chevy guys a break here. Oh yah Superduty im on d way this next month to see how your V10 would hold up
Hey Vulnox Excellent response there. Youve had good luck with your fords thats great. I have too. I defend them all the time they have never let me down.
Yeah my post isn't to say Ford is the best, maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but they are the best to me, and so long as I am paying for and driving a vehicle, they have my business.
We do have some excellent posters here on FTE dont we. I dont know if you could include me. Hammy 17 is a fair poster. States his points doesnt bash anybody veryfair. Several others could qualify here as well. Keep up the good work. Now back to the topic.
A few weeks ago, I was in my wifes 02 Trailblazer and saw another TB in frt of me w/ the right brakelight out. Pulled beside them at the next light and told the driver. At the next light he returned the favor and informed me, BOTH of mine were out.
We have some trolls here. That much is clear from posting history. When zero posts are in a Ford section and 99.9% are in F vs C, motives are questionable.
Well Guys ..I can speak from both sides of the fence on this one...I was raised with all GM products...learned to drive in a 41 chev pickup my dad had..

And a 70 Ford F250 I bought 2 years old..when I got out of the service..Thats my baby! See gallery for pics.. I have driven the hell out of that truck all these years.
Its had a camper on it(12 foot overhead) all its life..until just about 3 years ago..its towed my boats..towed my race cars..And never failed to start.. Rebuilt after 250,000

Sorry for the long post...But thats my story from both sides of the fence! Russ
I would assume they would. But GM is full crap anyways. So they don't care about they're consumer...yeah it is common and that their crap. They have to get their heads out of their behinds. your rite DMAX
How true it is a lot of GM owners here are real mad because GM wont stand behind there trucks.
