Today i was running my truck (76 F-100 2wd 302) to see if it leaked any oil out of the valve covers with new gaskets. Then when I was confident it wasn't leaking i revved it up pretty good and heard a strange noise so I shut it off. So checked if any thing was leaking and there was some gas on the ground.
I didn't know where it was coming from so i fired it up again and it was coming out of the fuel pump. I checked the fuel lines and they were fine. So i started it up again and it was coming out of the top half pump. Any suggestions, can i rebuild it or seal it up and try it again or buy a new one?
Any Help would be appreciated. Thanx.
If it's just a gasket could i just use silicone and seal it up? If not how can I tell if a used one I find is good or not and compatible with my engine? eg: can I use a fuel pump from another engine family?
The diaphram has busted, you need a new one. They are usually under $20. It will also pump gas into the crankcase, so replace the pump and check the oil for a gas smell. If there is any gas in the oil, change it asap!!!!
