Power Stroke MPG?
I have a new, 1700 miles, 2000 superduty 4x4 lariat diesel, eletric 4 speed automatic trans, 3.73 limited slip dif, 265/75x16Eall-tarrain tires....I left St. Marys, Ohio with 8 miles heading for Key West, Fl. where I live. I traveled Rt 75 all the way to North Miami,1550 miles, at speeds of 75 to 85 mph all the way, with cruse control. The trip computer said I averaged 17.3, by math, miles and gallons 17.2. Now at home if I set the curise control on 55 mpg I get 21 mpg.Richard...rfcj7 at mindspring.com

You know what? Big truck+Big engine=not the greatest mileage. But I am pleased with what I've got. I had a 96 f150 4x2, 6'bed, 6 cyl, 5 spd, and dual tanks. I get the same mileage, or close to with my dream... 97 f350 cc PSD 8'bed 4x4 auto. Sure around town, its a bit worse. The only bit** is the price of diesel fuel now.

Truck math: Big truck+big engine= not the greatest. But I had a 96 f150 6 cyl 4x2 5spd and now have a f350 cc PSD 4x4 auto 8'bed and get close to the same mileage on the highway. Around town (stop and go) is not as close. But I am so happy with what I've got. Only bit** is the price of diesel now. Something has got to be done.

2001 F-250 SC 4x4 Lariat 3.73 6-spd:
19-20 MPG highway, 17-18 MPG around town
I run tall skinny tires (255/85R16) which added ~1.5MPG to what I was getting before. I live at 4600' and drive an 8200' pass on most of my road trips. Try like he!! to keep it under 2000 RPM which is a large part of this.

I own an F-350 SD,SC 2000 PSD, 4X4 w/automatic trans, my nornal to and from work is 14- 18 mpg, on a short trip lastyear not towing anything my wife pointed to the onboard computer and it was sitting at 25.2 mpg and I was doing 57 mph.
all in all I'm very happy with the milage of the PSD, I've had two other diesel in the past an 85` 6.9 4x4 and an 88 dually 7.3
both pulled a fiver but with out the trailer I know I never got that kind of milage out of either one of them...
Good luck with yours, Phil near Chicago

Please let me know when you decifer all this info!! I have a 2001 F350 PSD Crewcab Dually Lariat 4x4. We LOVE the truck but the fuel mileage we are getting is, I think horrible. I bought the truck in Texas in October 2000. I started off from the lot averaging 11.2 with 3.73 rear-end on my way to Georgia. It increased to 14.6.
We left Georgia pulling a neon on a car dolly. the mileage has decreased to 12.7 (Pulling or running empty). I've got @12,000 on it now and people keep telling me to be patient..."that it'll break in around 20,000 or so.
I'll be happy to see those days...especially everytime I fill up.
Good luck with yours.
P.S. The guy who says he has a 3.73 with limited slip must have bought in MARS...
