FAN CLUTCH

Hey guys, just a post for your information, I changed the fan clutch on my 6.9 and My transmission shifts different temp guage stays down lower and this thing really does have guts!!! now it leaves the traffic light right along side of all the cars if I get on it I can even beat some of them!!!!! all the while I thought that was all the power I was going to have but when the fan locked up tight and started really roaring I had to change itand man what a difference. (by the way I got it from fordpartsonline they were $30.00 cheaper than what I could find locally) and it is a ford part not an aftermarket part.

A bad fan clutch and rob you up to 20% of engine power. Yeh your trans probaly will shift better, as before you were holding the pedal down more because of the power loss.

Many items from Ford are no longer more $$. I found out a couple of years ago, Ford in trying to be more competive with the after market, lowered prices on many items.

Dave, the local ford dealer around here wanted $213 for the fan clutch the local parts store wanted $186 and fordpartsonline sent it to my house for $169 that is a lot of difference for the same part after I got it the parts store said we will match whatever price you can get it for but it was still a three day wait and it wasn't a ford part. I know sometimes you can get upgraded parts that are better than what ford put on but for the most part ford has the better stuff and I know it fits it's not fits-all parts it was made for my truck so anything I need I know where I'll be shopping!!!! I still shop around if I need it right now, and the parts store has it then I go there but if I can wait I'll go to fordpartsonline the man on the other end of the phone or computer will tell you if he can't send you the part for less than you can get it from a local ford dealer, which is more than my local dealer will do he acts like he's doing me a favor by selling me the part!!!! By the way I took off from a light along side of a power stroke today he beat me but didn't have to leave the porch light on for me!!!!LOL

Hey John, sorry misread the post, anyhow, this is what I have found with ford, maybe different because we are a shop, but I will tell them what I can get it for, and many times they will match or come close to what I find online. You might want to speak with the parts manager at ford and see if they are willing to make the sale and match prices.

Not to long ago, I needed some 6.9 injectors and they were quite higher, but when I showed them that I could get them for less, they matched the price, and I did not have to wait.
