Man I really really want a water injection kit. I just keep haveing problems with my truck. I just put it on the dyno aqain and with the quad in the 160 setting all I could muster was a best of 289 HP. Its not a problem with the quad box it feels as if the E-brake is draging or somthing is holding the truck back it does the same thing with the predator in the 100 HP mode. Ford says everthing is normal after replacing the EGR valve which failed after 28 miles. I was driving it like a granny and fuel milage was eaking its way up to 15 MPG city driving. Then somthing went wrong power dropped and fuel milage went to 11 MPG.

Something is definately wrong. Yours is 100 HP short of mine.

sounds like an MAF problem. take it to a different dealer.
need to know fluid volume rate(gph or liters/min) for homebuilt system
I have a 400 2v in a 77 F250. Just failed smog due to high nox on the new dyno test (although the co and hydrocarbons are low). Water injection should lower the combustion temp and hopefully prevent nox formation. Previously I had built an evaporative mist cooler placing Arizona mist nozzels in front of the radiator for summer towing in the desert. This was powered by sureflow ag-spray pump. Today, prior to reading this thread, I re-installed the pump using a single nozzel in the top of the air cleaner. Is this the best location for the nozzel? Would it be better to inject the mist in to the carb pcv port using a tee? How many liters per minute should flow through the nozzel at cruising speed? For control, I'll install a water temp switch at the water outlet; 190 deg?. Smog test rpm is about 1350. Should I control the pump with a port vacuum electric switch also?

You are over in the 6.0 area, an I don't mine (I REALLY DO NOT MIND)...so no worry...I am curious how you got over here and decided to ask in this area, was it the title of the thread or did you do a search or...just wondering...enjoy FTE.

i have actually used the actual port vacuum to do all the work. a .030 orifice in the pickup line works perfect. then all u need is a vented tank that is about the same height or a tad lower than the carb flange. u dont want the water level higher than ur carb or it will run all night a small ball-valve shutoff would be really good in there just to make sure.
by the way, high NOX, low hyd and co3 points to a small vacuum leak.

It's really great to have a REAL mechanic on this forum!
Anyone brave enough to try this Nitrobooster stuff from Snow performance?
Looks like watered down nitromethane in a bottle to me...I might have to give it a shot, its *rated* for 50 hp...I would at least bet you would feel something seat-of-the-pants
Other than advanced timing issues, I would imagine it would be safe...I might give a couple shops a call tomorrow to see if they have any experience with it, and if so what effect it will have on timing.

When I was racing Mustangs all the time, every now and again I ran at an outlaw track where they didn't sample fuel. I would get smoked by guys that I had beat easily the week before. I found out they were using this stuff(or the straight stuff like they use in dragsters). I was always nervous about running it. I never knew anyone who blew their engine using it.
With that said, our 6.0s have a much higher compression ratio than gas engines. What this stuff does is raise the specific gravity of the fuel. Would you mix a couple of gallons of gas in your fuel? Without knowing how it would react in a diesel, I wouldn't run it.
Get yourself a propane kit. It would be safer.

git er done!!! haha i think ur nuts!
but if it blows, who better to do it than you?? a 6.0 tech.... u can diagnose it yourself!!!haha
My aching hands remind me every year about this time when it gets cold that I used to bend wrenches on these engines. I wish I'd changed to something else sooner now
