With all your guys' help I think i am closer to reviving my 89 F250.Got it to crank from the key and i can hear the fuel pump humming. A friend got fuel to squirt from a relief valve (?) near the injector. What takes it from there? So many questions.Does the PCM take over? Is the injector fried? I called a local junkyard to price a pcm and they quoted 35 bucks but there are 5 different ones based on the codes stamped on them. Is it better to go with a reman pcm or is used sufficient? Due to limited funds and even more limited transportation options,i gotta get this beast rolling.Really like the forums, good info and no smarta** comments. Was in another forum for a different carmaker and all i dealt with were people who seemed to enjoy making fun of people who don't know alot about cars. Thanks again for the help so far,the info on the battery cables and fusible links was dead on.
I wouldn't sweat replacing the PCM. They rarely go bad.
Remember that the three things any gas engine needs is fuel, spark, and air. It sounds like you have fuel (although a weak fuel pump can cause a no-start condition. You can test the pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.) Check that you have good spark by pulling one of the wires off the plug and holding it close to a ground. It should throw a spark while cranking.
Is it possible that your timing is off? Have you opened up the throttle body and made sure there are no animals living in there?
Ive got 2 new fuel pumps and plenty of spark testing it the way you said.I have a code scanner that reads nothing. Not sure how to pull codes from the flashes of the engine light.I know with mopars, you turn the key 3 times,on the third time you leave it on and start counting the flashes. Is it the same with Fords?
