i'll try that, but i'm not too optimistic. i showed my service rep. some printouts of this forum and he kind of just shrugged and gave me the we can't find anything on oasis deal......

yan-
i thought of that myself also.....but my truck was built in november of last year and i bought it in january of this year. i can't see why my truck wouldn't have an update out there. this is what is confusing me....you, and many others posting here, have a truck that was built after mine. you've taken it in and had it hooked up and found the latest update with no problems. now here i sit with a truck that was built before yours and i take mine in and there are no new updates according to my service rep.. how is this possible?

thx fellas

well got the Lo-Jack installed then had the throttle looked at but the lame *** service rep wrote the problem down wrong and the tech said no problem evident......

BUT
I do notice a small reaction difference. so when I go in for free oil change 1 I will take one of those lil techies for a lil ride a show him exactly what I mean by hesitation.... I'll repot back then

also got my retorque done on my lift - don't know how but it helped the ride...

I will be looking into this, as I hate the lag too! When I pick up my bed extender, hopefully they will entertain the thought of flashing the puter with the better program!

any word on the version of this update? Anything bad happen to the truck afterwards? I just bought an 04 FX4 2 days ago and hate the throttle response. The build date on the truck was Feb 04. Hopefully there is an update to make it feel like a V8 and not a V6.......

Just found out Superchips will have their programmer out for the 2004 5.4 in mid July. I'm putting my faith on the aftermarket to make this thing "right".

Hi from the Cabot Trail...Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia....Took my 2004 f150 Lariat Supercrew with 5.4 to dealer in Sydney Kenmount Ford for Throttle reprogramming....service manager Andy Tonet and mechanic had one other customer complain about it...they called ford and no update...mechanic said computer downloads from ford to dealer are done and sometimes weeks go by for a techie at ford can tell you anything on the phone....hooked up my truck to computer at the dealer and entered serial #....lo and behold update there....took 15 mins to download...I watched it all on screen......truck holds shifts a bit longer and weak throttle response is gone...there is a noticeable difference......that being said new handheld device will be ready soon and that for sure will be the way to go. For $49000 Canadian $ ford should have half a dozen programs to load in to suit a customers needs....go to your dealer and watch them while they plug in your truck and enter serial number...thats the only way to tell for sure. Thanks

I had the same problem, failsafe light came on after starting the engine and I touched the gas pedal. I went to my Ford dealer this morning and they did the flash. So far today no problem and my gas mileage has improved. Used to get 14.3mpg then the problem started and it dropped to 12.4mpg, filled up today and so far 14.5mpg. Gas pedal is very responsive. I would like to thank all of you very much for the info.
I will update you all when I get a chance.

Black04FX4 there is no such thing as throttle reprogramming. The PCM is what gets reprogrammed. It and the throttle work together.

That's it. I have no idea what that means, but I know I can tell a difference in the throttle response.

I have a new Service Advisor to contact.

Just have your advisor give him a shout.
