Throttle Programming

I wonder if some of you guys that had the new programming can help me. I have a new Lariat Black on Black with the 5.4. I was just at my dealer and spoke with the service manager who is super nice and helpful. He contacted FMC who said that there is no such download. They went further to tell him that what we read on this forum is BS. The service manager was quit upset. He asked me if there was anyway that i could get the names of the dealerships that have done the update and the names of the service managers invo0lved so he can personally call them and find out what he needs to do to take care of my truck. After that he sad he is going to call the tech at FMC and jam him with the update. So you guys that state your dealership has done the update could you please give me the information so we can have it done here in the S. Florida area.
email me at ungotz@bellsouth.net
Thank you so much for all your help

fanman, have you been keeping track of the MPG since the reflash? Has it changed any? Better, worse, or the same?

Sully......

Yes, I have....but my driving habits have been so erratic and skewed since I had it done, that my information is not very representative of what the REAL difference is, or will be. But if I had to pick one or the other, I would have to say my MPG has INCREASED "a little".

I don't know if this is good or bad, but I have noticed that the MPG (as shown on my dash display) fluctuates up or down more easilly than it did before. It is as if the vehicle's performance (which is due due to my driving habits) and the resulting MPG are more sensitive than they were before?!?!

The real MPG difference (up or down) will be determined the next time I can fill up and run through a FULL tank of gas through the truck.

I will keep you posted.

Fred

OOPS.....

The last sentence in my previous post should read, "The real MPG difference (up or down) will be determined the next I can fill up, and run a FULL tank of gas through it on an "ALL Highway" trip like I took last December, where I got almost 21.0 MPG"

Dropped the truck off at the dealer this morning for a few things:

A/C blowing cool air, not cold air
Outside Temperature gauge being 10 degrees off
New Program for the throttle issue
Oil Change

They just called me and started off by saying that they tested the A/C system and it was in spec. Ford says that if the A/C cools the inside of the truck to a minimum of 10 degrees cooler than the outside temp, then it is working fine.

They replaced the Ambient sensor for the outside temp gauge.

(I am under the impression that the A/C reads the Ambient sensor to determine how much to cool down the inside of the truck. The dealership says that it does not. I do not know if they replaced the Ambient sensor before checking the A/C or vise versa. I will try to find out though.)

They then said that they hooked up my truck and found that there was a new program for the truck, so they loaded the new program. (This is what they are telling me anyway. I don't know if they are being honest with me or if they are just telling me this so that I won't continue to bug them about the new code. I will look over the service order when I pick up the truck and compare it to what Fanman2 posted earlier in this thread.)

For reference for everyone else that is having problems getting the dealership to load new code, my dealership is Germain Ford in Columbus, Ohio. My service advisor's name is Jeff.

Hope this is helpful.

geez....i just don't get it.

i took my truck in about a week ago for a service and asked them to reprogram the throttle and address the rear 'shudder'. when i picked it up i was happy to find that the service dept. installed a new clutch pack (which so far has ended my shuddering situation) but, told me that after hooking the truck up to the puter found no new programs for the throttle.

i understand the "trickle down effect" through word of mouth etc...., but how is it that some service dept.'s seem to be finding this new program on the puters and others are not? just doesn't add up to me.

my dealer is All-Star Ford in Olympia, Washington.

any thoughts?

Patuca...I would ask them to call other dealerships in the area, or possibly some of the ones that we have mentioned here (including myself). I don't think it's a dream because I for sure noticed a huge difference when they updated mine with the latest program off the Oasis System.

patuca, perhaps your truck came with the latest update. if you have a fairly recent build date then maybe there isn't an update available for it. mine was built in feb/04 and when they hooked mine up a couple of weeks ago there was one available so they flashed it.
