I'm rebiulding a 88 f150 and i've flushed and changed the rear diff. oil but now theres a pretty steady drip comming for the front seal going out to the drive shaft. I was just curios if anyone else has noticed it. thanks. Drew
i have the same problem. i was wondering how i drain/replace gear oil in the diff? theres no plug there. at least that i can see. i have a 78 bronco, 9" rearend i believe. also what type gear oil? and any estimate on how much the seal is?
if your broncos rearend is like mine then to drain you have to take the rear coverplate off to drain the oil and to refill it afterwards there is a plug on the frontside about half way down. i didnt see mine at first because it blended in due to the thick mud on it. i use 80w 90 castrol. i dont no about the seal yet. hope this hepls
chrono4, what you need is a pinion seal. I replaced a couple before. Drop the drive line, remove the yoke, pop out the seal, put in the new seal. Piece o' cake.
