TW: What Amsoil says about certification and licensing. That is like me saying that I am a certified driver, but I'm just not licensed! Would you take a chance and hire me to drive for you? No way, you wouldn't risk it! Why then would anyone take the same risk with their oil and void the warranty on a new vehicle?
Yep, the same old story. "We're a small, independant company and it costs too much... We could be certified but we don't want to because..." It's all excuses because all their oils AREN'T certified. If it doesn't have the API symbol it isn't certified. I do think it's funny that they designed a symbol to put on their non-API certified oils that at a glance gives the impression of certification.
I've read this thread on oils and seen so many different opinions that I've got a headache!
I just did my first oil change and used Chevron Delo 400 15W-40, which had been recommended by a friend as an excellent oil for my 6.0 PSD.
My question (And I know I'm opening a can of worms) what is a good brand of filter to use? For my recent oil change I purchased Napa's brand, but if there is a better one out there I want to use it, anything to get my truck to 300K.
today I change from rotella t to mobil1 truck and suv .Going on a 3000 mile trip
so i should know if it was a good change or not shortly
iron i have only found filters at the dealership Motorcraft, but you can find fleet gaurd on the internet there cheaper
johndiesel i will try amsiol on my next oil change . Ichecked them out and they seem to have a good product
Response from Amsoil regarding your claims...

Thanks for contacting AMSOIL with your concerns.
In response to your inquiry, all of our oils are API certified. However only the entry level XL7500 series oils are licensed. Licensing is optional, and as all of our top tier products far exceed the minimum API licensing standards, we choose not to inflate the product cost with these unnecessary licensing costs.
Tried to stay out of this debate but cannot sit on the sidelines and see a manufacture/business blatantly misconstrue the truth. All of Amsoil products are not API certified. To be able to display the API logo on a product and call it certified it must also be licensed by API. bwalker5,
If you still have this email from Amsoil SAVE it and SEND a copy of it to API, they have an enforcement division that would love to see this in print.

Amsoils statements give all legitimate manufactures/business a bad name.
I apologize in advance for the tone of this post, if anyone is offended, just hate to see businesses twist the truth to benefit their pocket book at the consumers expense.

Thanks Blackhat,
After we have all contributed on one of these threads there is usually enough information to make a sound decision.
After we have been on the forum for a while, we notice that the same questions come up about Amsoils, over and over again. Why don't they solve the problem and become legitmate? I'm only guessing, but it's probably because they can't make the grade.
They market their products well enough that some will always be sold. Another question...why risk a $40,000 truck by using lubricants that have so many unanswered questions?
BOB, wrote this so eloquent…”Another question...why risk a $40,000 truck by using lubricants that have so many unanswered questions” many read that folks are bashing some of the different brands, it is quiet the contrary. Many oils have their following and most will work in all brands, only a few do not meet standards, does not mean they are “bad” oil, just do not meet standards that Ford wants to run in their equipment.
Do not take some of the comments personal……….its only oil!
