Well, the static issue has been a problem with all of my trucks that had cloth seats. My wifes minivan has leather and no shocks. But I have just decided with my truck to use the car key and touch the door with it as I get out. That makes the arch of the discharge hit the metal key and it hurts me a lot less. Besides, it's kinda neat to be able to tell folks that I still get a "charge" out of my truck.
I have leather seats in my 04 King Ranch... when it was low humidity out we would get zapped pretty good... sometimes twice before you could touch the ground.
Got out of my company van a while back (cloth seats, always zaps me) to get gas and didn't discharge myself, when I touched the "Pay Here" button on the pump, ZAP and the sceen went blank, they had to reboot something before it would work....
Man. I thought it was just me. I love my new truck and I wasn't about to complain about it, but now that I see its not just my SD doing it....I hate that!! I too, get to where I don't want to shut the door. I've tried shutting it with my elbow- didn't help. And the trucks too new to use my foot... I'm going to try grabbing metal next time like Munkey said.
Just wanted to give you guys an update. My static electricity has disappeared. Granted it has been a little humid out lately but it went away before then. Right after I got my truck sound dampened. They installed the dynamat like stuff in the cab everywhere, put my mirrors on a LED switch (fuse has been pulled until now), and added an ARE camper shell (they had to run a hot wire to the back bed for the camper light). I am not sure if it was coinsidence or one of the above upgrades.
