I'm always getting blasted getting out of my truck. Love AZ but hate the defib shock getting out of my truck. Even grabing metal getting out will still shock me. oh well luv my 6L any way.

here on Long Island, which is pretty high humidity, I still get zapped...
Well, I am going to give the strap thing a shot. I have even gotten shocked touching the shifter. For S&Gs I am gonna hold on to one of those small nightlight bulbs and see if I can light it up.
I was just wondering about all the static electricity that builds up in our trucks if that may be causing problems with some 6.0s. Since a lot of our engine is controlled electrically and generally computers do not like static.
OK I got the strap and installed it. It looks like a heavy piece of rubber to me with a rivet and gold marker pen zig-zag line on one side. I am not sure how it will discharge the static but will let everyone know how it works out. Since the truck is a 4x4 there was not much the 18" could be attached to (with a bolt that would fit in the rivet since it was designed for motorcycle sized bolts) and still touch the ground so I attached it to the fuel tank skid plate (which felt like metal).
I have a King Ranch with real leather seats and rubber floor mats. Evan after i put conditioner on the seats I still got shocked. I waxed the outside with Mcquiers NXT wax, now I don't get shocked.
So I concluded it was from the outside of the truck building up static, not the inside.
I am using NU Finish and have used Mcguiers on the leather seats and still get shocked. I hooked up the anti-static strap from the cycleessentials. I am not sure this will work because the material looks like rubber. If that does not work then I will do what I saw on the trucks in Korea. They just used a small steel chain from the frame to the ground.
Has anyone tried something like 'tire wet" or some other tire beauty product and noticed a difference in static?
I think it's a static buildup on the truck itself, for whatever reason... and some kind of coating on the tires would dissipate the static buildup.
All very similar - while inside the truck no problems, no static, get out, feet touch the ground, touch the truck - WHACK! That means that while moving, the truck is builiding up electrons (or losing them), causing a - or + charge on the truck. Get out, touch ground, you're back to neutral (or "ground"), touch the truck which is still charged, and WHACK...
I'm very interested in whatever works, static strap, chain, tire treatments, Static Guard, etc.
Personally, with cloth seats, Static Guard has eliminated it (for now - besides, it's getting warm and muggy here on Long Island, so the static is already gone for the season)...
yea, i have had this problem with most of my cars ... and want to get rid of it. I may just hang a chain on the rear, since no one has responded with results from that strap thing, and chain i got laying around is cheaper too. gotta get one for my office here too ... but as krewat stated, the staticy season is going away here, we trade it for muggy humidity.
Had my truck going on 4 years now, don't notice anymore.

Well, the strap seemed to have worked a little. There is still a little static and when I close the door I can hear it but barely feel it and hear it. The defib-strength static shock seems to be gone.
