well i'm sorry ya own a dodge.....our hearts go out to ya. LOL. Longer strokes regain torque, and i'm guessing your right on the bmw's and mercs, they didn't have room for a i6 anymore since most are front wheel drive now.

"that ford seems to be one of the first transmitions ive seen go out, its usually the dodges that tranny's that dont last 50k"
The service manager at that Ford dealership vollunteered the info that they have seen MANY of the Ford trannies from the late 90's to early 00's fail just like my buds - usually at about the same mileage as his did... BUT, lest you entirely miss the point it is that NONE of these trucks are immune from various weaknesses and failures - and before YOU start start making ridiculing comments about other makes, remember my bud - and take ANOTHER long look at HIS truck and situation - the NEXT truck up on a tow truck COULD easily be YOURS!
And CROW doesn't taste very good, served hot OR cold!
im just sayin what ive seen and heard 2 dodge trucks in my home town the trannys blew before 50k and i havnt see any powerstrokes in my town have tranny problems, its those dodges to much hp for there junk trannys
My buds 92 auto went at under 100k and he never pulled or abused it. The truck was not all stock he turned a fuel screw in the pump up 1.5 turns so it would smoke more. I never liked the way it shifted. it seemed to slip slip slip then shift. was like that from new
got just over 50 on our 95 1 ton auto should I cross me fingers. NOT
and 172k on my 93 auto. I can say I like the way my 93 shifts better than my dads 95
not to nickel and dime your statement but the 12/31/02 7.3 was 250hp 525tq for the autos and 275hp 520 for the stick with the exception of a number of the late 02's standards coming with 525 on the torque.
The previous or 2nd generation cummins specs for dodge were 215hp 420tq fpr the automatic peak tq @ 1600
235hp 460tq for the standard peak also @ 1600
The 325hp 600tq cummins is on the way but not here yet, so I was speaking of the ones that the public actually has access to and furthermore, I was simply passing information along to someone who posted earlier in this thread.
having said that, since you were so quick to boast the specs on your truck would you be so kind as to post the dyno that you ran in order to obtain those numbers or can I call BS!!
Now if in fact you are running those numbers Kudos to you, but I think If you are worried about glow plugs on a Powerstroke, you might be better served to worry about the trannies you are going to eat up running 1100 ft/lbs of torque. My guess is you will replace more trannies than I or anyone else will glow plugs.....
Yeah, there was a Dodge Cummins with those numbers at the local truck and tractor pull and he boasted on the loudspeaker to the Ford and Chevy drivers before he pulled.......Low and behold what happened to him????
It basically self destructed about the 225ft. mark, it was an amazing fireworks display, oil shooting out, metal flying and 2 chipped Power Strokes did full pulls after that.
I can't trust a Dodge truck, my father had one and the transmission burned up less than a month after he bought it new.
