I live just a mile or so from the SD plant in Louisville. I have seen some of the '05's--they run around with a bra on the front end, but you can tell that the grill is the one from the TV capture pic. They have new emblems on the sides, and the MAIN way that I could tell that they were different is the coil front suspension on the FX4 models. Other than that, they are straight up SD. Makin' me want to get rid of my truck and buy one of these.... after I see how it is working out for others, of course. Don't want to be a victim of another '03 fiasco.
Wow everyone here see's them, EKUgrad if you took a single picture of an 05 and put it on a website it would get 40000 hits a day.
Bluehawk, pictures man! take the video and upload it to the internet. Name the show or something, we are all dieing to see what it looks like. If it looks bad I'm probably gonna buy a 04 dodge in a year or two.
Thought about taking a pic, had the digital camera in hand. Somehow felt like a paparazzi POS and put it down. I think that the changes are subtle enough that it would not show up that well. They look more like the current SD than the Tonka concept, even when in yellow (which was the color of one of the three that I saw Wed morning). I just wish that they were less expensive (goes for everything else too, I guess).
Well man, you could probably sell those pics hehe, but the new interior and shape of the grill could change the outcome of several people here buying trucks. They look the same but they are not and they are going to be realeased in a few months and no one really has seen them yet, well apparently they unvailed it at a show today? I don't know I probably would of tailed the truck and took a few hundred pics.
Oh yeah, and the plastic is more expensive. Sucks dont it.
Guys, I haev a few questions that I would like answered if possible.
I'm in the market for a new ford f-250 superduty with the 6.0L diesel. From what I remeber ford is not taking orders for the 2004 superduty after, May 31st. Is this correct??? Also does anyone know when the 2005 Superduty will go into production??
Finally, my last question. I do not mind the exterior of the 2005 model from what pictures I have seen floating around on the net. But the thing that really makes me sad is the rumor that Ford is changing the superdutys front suspension from leaf-spring to coil spring. Now is this true??? Also, if it is true, are they putting the coil springs on a solid front axle or are they completely changing the front suspension to an IFS???
Lastly, the reason I need to know these things is because, before I order my 2004 superduty I want to make sure I'm not going to want a 2005 model. THe thing that intrigues me about the 2005 model is that they are supposed to have more horsepower and torque for the 6.0L diesel. Hopefully this is true.
May 14th is the last day to order a 2004, and the 2005s will start production on July 19th. I've been told that they are going to coil springs up front, and I BELIEVE that they sit atop a solid axle, but I can't say for sure. Ford has told the dealers nothing so far, although they are all in Vegas right now, and the 2005 is supposed to be unveiled there. Hope to have some more news soon.
I just got the june 04 (i subscribe so I get it a week or so earlier than the news stands) issue of Petersons 4 Wheel and Offroad and on page 66 in the article Future 4X4s right below the picture of the bronco concept it says:
"In other ford news weve seen some prototype 05 Superduties running around with Dana 60 front axles and coil sprung front ends similar to Dodge HD's. And were hearing reports of a larger 6.4 PSD"
Thats Exactly what they said. Why coils diesels sag leafes so theyll realy sag coils and add more front end parts.
Very subtle visible changes from what I have seen. Again, I did not crawl under it or poke around it much.
1. On the FX4 that I saw it had a coil front end.
2. new badges similar along the same theme of the new F150's
3. new grill, not all that different, just a little broader horizontal bars, from what I could tell
4. Hood MAY be a little different, more acutely angled, but very subtle and hard to tell without the two of them sitting side by side.
5. I do believe that the PS diesel was quieter, but that could have been my imagination.
To make sure that I did not want an '04 I went and test drove one again. Sorry, love the looks, but I will wait for the improvements. Hopefully they will get the steering right.
On another note, the dealer commented on the rumor of a bigger diesel option, but this was only after I had told him about the changes that I knew of or had seen. Of course he wanted to know where I got my info from, b/c that was not supposed to be public information. He let on that he knew more than he was allowed to say, but whenever he knew for sure, he would let me know. Sounds interesting. It would be a pretty strong statement if Ford was showing a loss of faith in IH, God knows they generally do a good job. Just missed it by a bit with this latest incarnation. Damn EPA tree huggers.....
