More info on what code P0603 REALLY means, please?
Okay guys, I'm glad I read this thread...
I got my truck back from the shop, where they did an EGR "re-calibration" to try to help with my crummy mileage. Didn't make any difference...
So, I re-installed my SuperChips Flashpaq on the Economy setting, then decided to check my codes.
Like a lot of you guys here, I got P0603- KAM Error, but what does that REALLY mean?
BeachBumCook's explanation helped to let me know that it means: P0603 Powertrain Control Module Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error, but what the heck does THAT mean?
I didn't disconnect my batteries...
Could this just be from their "re-calibration"?
Could it be from installing the tuning?
My main question is: Is it bad?
Does it mean that there is a problem with my truck?
I've read that a lot of you have gotten this code, but what the heck does it mean to someone that is not really that "tech"nical?
I took the chip out of mine because it would not idle, took the chip (just like mine) out of my dads truck put it in mine and now it idles fine so now im going to put mine in his and see if it is something wrong with my programmer or what, I thought it was my truck because of the po603 error. I will let you know how it goes.
It means nothing other than a tuner or chip is installed and that the current memory checksum doesn't match what the factory says it should be. Its no big deal, is not an error, and should be ignored. I've probably answered this one a dozen times on the forums.
Folks... instead of resurrecting 2.5 year old threads it might be best to start a new thread. Thanks.
P0603
Internal Mod KAM error (Keep. Alive. Memory)
This is the same code when you remove the battery voltage from the computer. (remove terminals and computer resets)
This is the memory of your driving habits and DTC's. This memeory will tak about 30 drive cycles to clear.
When ever you remove or program a vehicle computer this code will come up.
We consider this a nothing code.
