I'm into Halo (for Xbox), powertools, shooting and hunting, trucks, muscle cars, computers, soccer, rodeo, and Halo. No model trains here, although my cousin used to be into them.
I used to have a model train business. I did custom painting, even built a couple of layouts. Once the economy started going south, people stopped buying, and I had to shut down. When things started picking back up, there was too much competition for me to get a good start again. Oh well, I still have about $10k worth of stuff, and enough stuff to build my dream layout, Maine two-foot gauge in S scale, primarily in the Weeks Mills area, where I grew up.
They say thats what makes the difference between a collector and a hobbiest,A collector just buys them and puts them in cases and looks at them.So that makes me a hobbiest.cause if I cant put it on my track,I dont want it.I would rather have one a couple years old that I can enjoy than one that is antique that I would be afraid of damaging.
I have to agree with what you say. All of my Lionel will run when I get a house, even the Prewar stuff. None of them are by any means perfect collectors items that you would be afraid to run. They are in great shape, but I certainly want everything to run on the layout.
I'm trying to restore my '65 Cutlass convertible and my '23 Model T Fordor. It's rough when you're bucks-down. Still have my American Flyer trains from the 50's. Will build a nice layout for them some day.
- Restoring my '78 Delta 88 and '70 F-100 after I get a job and move. Not sure about the living arrangements since it's my 1st job out of college but I do have a LOT saved up that I might put towards a house. Either way, it's hard to do cars whilest living in an apartment...
- I play the flute (see: my name). Haven't in awhile since it needs new corks and springs but will fix that after that job comes around
- Since this is the 'I have a train' thread, I've still got all the HO train stuff my dad was trying to set up in the '80s boxed up. Except for the buildings, they're kind of fun to look at.
- I'm into biking, just to keep in shape. Used to go on 50 mile rides just for fun. Besides, it's good for you. Might do a small triathlon someday.
I am into motox with my son and i dig my souped up t maxx nitro truck.
I would like to build a real one like it that i could ride in.
That would definatly be a thrill
I do some Metal Detecting. I havn't been too active at it for the past few years but I did go to the beach last week and found 2 dimes and a penny.
We used to do alot of camping and I would metal detect and fly kites at the beach.
I also used to do some gold panning in the hills of Georgia and North Carolina. Not verry successful.

Yeah,It is one of the great movies that you can watch more than once and not get bored with.I really like the part where that guy on the porch gets hit and then a few seconds later you hear the gunshot.I think I will go rent it again today!
I'm into bodybuilding and competing, hiking, mountain biking, bullseye competition shooting, woodworking - which is putting furniture in our house, and the most expensive hobby yet, owning a house.
Interesting! They sure didn't have digital accessories for HO trains when I was a kid. And 12' rockets? I'll bet homeland security is keeping an eye on those launches...
I like to ride stuff... street bike and snomobile are my favorite, but I also dirtbike a little. I also like to film short videos and produce DVD's. Great thread!
Don't get me started on the BATFE. I have a Low Explosive User Permit , issued by the BATFE ($100/3 years) and have a visit from the BATFE at least once a year because 20 years ago they misclassified solid rocket propellant as a low explosive.
And yes, we've had BATFE JBTs at our launches.

Do you think that maybe they are afraid that you might arm you rocket, and then aim it at Dearborn?
