Toy trains here.I have quite a few Lionel, mostly from the fiftys.I'm thinking about selling them on e-bay as none of the kids or grandchildren seem interested in them.I bought everything in sight for a few years, then lost interest.Same thing with my die-cast collection.I bought about $2000 worth, then lost interest.Train layouts are cool, and lets you use your imagination.
Nothing against ebay, but before you go that route, check online with the various train hobby groups. They can tell you what you have, and what it is worth.Last month one of the guys in one of the groups I am in was bragging how he had bought a complete set off ebay for chump change and the engine alone was worth thousands!Granted it was a rare antique engine, but I would hate to hear how you found out later that your were worth 10 times what you sold them for.
i like to hunt, fish, camp, play soccer at hs, welding, and work on my truck-pretty normal stuff
building golf carts is the only other hobby, me and my dad just bought a lifted cart on atv tires to work on..... fun toy!!

I model trians in HO scale, but NOOOOO I can't do a simple to find RR like U.P. I run Louisville & Nashville in early 1970's (I am 37 and grew up and still live in Ky). Of course its all coal hoppers and I have a wide assortment of diesel locos, some factory paint and some custom using Microscale decals. My favorite is my Atlas Alco RS-3. I have an 8'x8' bedroom layout with a river, tunnel, mountains, 2 trestles a coal mine and a town. Great stress therapy.
Im into nitro R/c trucks. Right now i have a t-maxx that goes 40 and an e-maxx (electric) that does 30. I put like 500 bucks into each one and they still dont go fast enough.
Nitro?they actually run on nitro?or is that just a brand name,I have an electric r/c car ZZ Top,that a friend had dumped tons of money into,he ran into money problems and blew his realcar up.He gave it to me as payment.I didnt really want it,but knew this was the only way he could pay me for rebuiling his engine. It is fun to mess with, but goes dead fast because of the bigger electric motor he put in it.
I know,I have read some of your threads on paintball guns, and have even thought of mentioning,as much as you know about paint guns, maybe you should try being a weapons specialist in the Marines. The way you put your mind to paint guns,I bet you would be real good with real ones.
Ive actually given that a thought. Only problem is I hardly ever shoot real guns lol. I love guns dont get me wrong but most of the people that are really into the guns in my family I hardly ever get to see. My grandpa used to live here (now lives in Georgia) and collects guns. He once let me shoot his
Mac-10 and I woulda fallen over backwards if he hadnt of been there behind me (I was 8 at the time). Ill look more into that though cause that sounds like fun, that or designing new military vehicals

Thanks for the tip.I have all the price guides to the Lionel pieces, though they are about 4 years out of date.I don't have any rare pieces, mostly the $70-$100 engines with about 4 or 5 sets.I still have to get a price guide for my Marx pieces. It a neat hobby though.Makes some great conversation with guests.
I am into u-control model airplanes, well i used to be. Just dont have the time anymore. Anyone else? Anyone know of a good place to buy kits, or engines?
hunt occasionally, used to be big into the trains too. also used to build models when i had the time, i kinda miss it it was a good hobby for me, i could do a level 3 in a couple hours by the time i was like 12. only hobby i have now is working on my dip-can pyramid, haha...i need a life
Pull out the model railroad magazines and show her the lost wax brass casting locos that START @ $1200. The $350 will look much better to her!
As for your layout, that sounds extremely cool! I love the idea of the trains as moving obstacles for the cars, and your timing system. Do you have operating sessions for the RR as well or just let 'em run? Any pictures anywhere on the web? Would love to see the layout.
I am trying to get my hands on a decent digital camera,my fellow train hobbiests want to see them too,I bought one of those cheap argus cameras but the picture quality stinks. And shhhh,we dont want to mention brass just yet!
My hobby- is the arts. I draw (graphite portraits are my specialty), paint, sculpt. I also sew, quilt, and make jewelry. I love to cook too!
My dream hobby though would be glass-blowing.. I want to try that REALLY bad. I love Dale Chihuly's work, he's amazing. Maybe some day, but I'm in college so money is tight.. Dale Chihuly's website- glass
Wow...lotsa people into trains. I just have a few older Tyco HO's sitting here, nothing special.
My real hobby is making music. Playing guitar, bass, a little drums and keyboards if neccessary. Multi-track recording on analog or computer with Cakewalk. Its a blast, to write and compose, layer...create..record. And sometime just turn it up and let loose. Its a great feeling listening to music that you have created. Totally amazing. The stuff I record is some kind of rock, but it really varies. There is no way I could limit myself to one "type" of music, theres just too much good stuff out there.
I do machine shop stuff, welding, ham radio, shooting. I like hobbies that you can do almost any time of the year. Oh yeah, working on cars. I have kind of slacked off in that dept. Too many projects and not enough time.
