hi, I have a 77 ford f-100 4x4 with a 351m in it. I just recently did a paint job on the out side of the truck. every once in a while the truck is hard to start and if it starts it has a lack of power and dies at idol. now this only happens once every week or two but its stating to TICK me off, I just put in a new electric choke 600 cfm edelbrock carb, but not sure if that is the problem? thanks for the help tye...
Tye,
What do you mean, "You have oil coming out the exhaust"?
Are you burning oil? Is it dripping out the exhaust?
Secondly, clean your battery cables. After a paint job, overspray can get into the battery connections and cause a weak connections. This is an unlikely problem but possible.
Change your fuel filter.
Lastly, It is possible for the ignition module to fail intermittently. Buy a module now and keep it in the truck. You'll thank me later.

thanks alot for the replys guys, um yes oil/mix was coming out of the exhaust but I fugured out what it was. I washed down the engine to clear som paint particles and the water built up om my intake and went down into my exhaust manifold opps, lol. and then i figured some gas mixed in it to becasue the carb overflowed so there is a nice little mixture of oil/water/gas. is there suppose to be a hole in the top of the manifold?
