Hard brakes

Hey guys, I am having some hard breaking my peddle feels like a brick wall at tye top and once it breaks it sucks to the floor and I have to pick the peddle up w my feet.. it may go weeks with out doing it then do it a day or two the truck is a 96 2wd

Hard pedal is usually a bad vacuum pump. Does the red "BRAKE" light on the dash come on?

It did yesterday for the first time and when I picked the peddle up w my foot it would go out

Would the peddle suck to the floor and also come and go

Mine used to do exactly that. My booster was bad. Look up at the rear of it inside the cab. The plastic piece where the peddle rod attaches is prob cracked. The booster will need rebuilt or replaced.

Thanks, the booster is about 4 yrs old but I have been told the booster or vac pump but I hate to spend money on one and it be the other

Anyone know what the vac pressure should be on these
