Well, I know its possible cause i just did it. I have a 96 same as yours. You will have enough room if you get the wrench. The box end is slinder compared to the open end. And like i said before i tried to use a 10 in cresent wrench and there wasnt enough room for it.
OH MY GOD!!!! I finally was able to replace the damn pump, but the Blue Oval Gods were not smiling on me I was unable to use an 1 1/4" box end wrench as suggested by 00SVT but I was able to use the same size 12 point socket and ratchet. After going through the very slow proccess of removing the banjo fitting from the pump, removing the pump itself, replacing the pump, reattaching the banjo fitting (another very slow proccess), buttoning up everything else that was moved or removed and finally starting the beast to check for leaks........... the banjo fitting was leaking and needed to be replaced I was lucky enough to get to repeat the whole procedure. I'm ready for several cold beers and maybe a tranquilizer or two......... Thanks to all who had helpful input on this fix
