im pretty sure that was one of the first things i checked... i was driving the thing all day just fine.. went into a parking lot turned it off... less then 5 mins later i tried it again and i could tell by the smell it wasnt getting fuel... i disconnected all the fuel lines starting by the engine and followed it all the way back to the tanks.. no fuel is going anywhere.. cant hear the pumps fire up when the key is turned.. replaced pumps... still nothing... person who had the truck befor butchered the wiring and i redid the wiring with proper connecters since its been down... still nothing... turn the key the rest of the truck works... the gas guages register the proper amount of fuel in the tanks.. but just wont pump anything..

Yeah you should hear those pumps...Also, check grounds. I know the PCM tellthe the relays to kick on when they key is turned, it could be a bad PCM.

Sorry. PCM is Power Control Module...Cant remember if peopeple call it PCM or EEM...Either way its the main computer im talking about (EEC, electronic engine control), Its located in the passenger kick panel. It has direct ground on it and make sure your chassis grounds and the ground going to the engine it good. You also have a ground near the started solenoin under the hood (and some others).

Subford gave my a good diagram of the grounds that was nice, I'll see if I can dig up the link.

But the main computer controls switching on those fuel pump relays on...Also do you have a dual tank, that switch Kingfisher is talking about could be a culprit.

switch works fine.. like i said earlier.. when flicked it reads the levels in the toher tank.. and vise versa.. steady results.. if that was the culprit it would have just bin stuck on the one tank or got jammed halfway through the transfer.. my buddy is running his truck atm without the switch.. he still ahs his one tank going and its workin fine.. pulled the switch right out and still works...

im assuming since the 4.9 and the 5.0 require similar amounts of fuel under similar cercumstances the diagrams should be relative yes?

There is now need to swear, luckily the software prevents it. These guys are trying to help you out. The inertia switch or the fuel cutoff switch is a switch that kills power to the fuel pump in the event of an accident. They from time to time have the tendency to "pop" on their own. I am not 100% certain were it is on your truck whereas I have an 01 Diesel.
