Has anyone ever taken the glass out of one of these and put in in a better frame? Some *&(^%*& threw a rock at my vent window and broke it. I have a good frame now with no glass and one frame with no handle to keep the window closed. Would it be easier to replace the glass or the handle?
Thanks guys
Ben
Removing vent window glass and handle is really not that difficult. Replaced couple of vent windows. Since the class is going to be replaced, do not need to be overly careful removing. I used a chop stick and got it started in one end then continued working it loose using a rubber mallet. Would not suggest using a lubricant, tends to swell the seal.
If you are referring to just the the handle, there is a small pin at the base of the handle that holds it onto the shaft. Using a small punch, push the pin through. If possible try and save the pin. If referring to tent window bracket and handle shaft, have replaced the hinge and assume would be same. Drill out the old rivets, replace the bracket, and secure using new rivets. Use a rivet that will not leave excess material and a flush as possible for the window to set in. Pop rivets will not work. Should be able to get rivets any hardware, or parts store.
Hope answered your guestion. Am sure there will be other member who can provide more info, and or suggestions.
Jerry do you need just the glass or frame and all.
I got my truck up there and brought it down to SD. My brother works for a towing company in Spanaway. My truck came from an impound auction for $250. I looked in your gallery cool truck is it a custom cab or did somebody just put on the chrome door handle pockets. Rich.

Merc,
I bought all my door stuff form Carpenter also. If they sent you a catalog, check the back page. Mine has instuctions and pictures on the last two pages of how to do the install. If you don't have one I can try to scan the pages and put them in my gallery.
good luck
