Ya, IMO its not my place to say whether she has problems or not. I dont really know her well enough to say. I do know enough to know that she really is a nice lady, shes invited me over for dinner a few times and told Brittany that she likes me (I think its cause I cleaned up after dinner for her). I want whats best for her and I wanna be there for her. Her mom isnt around, dads always workin outta town (has been in Cali for past 2 months and if I remember right hes commin back in a week and leaving like 5 days later for Guatamala). So she basically lives with her step mom. I dont know if I could handle just living with my step dad. I just wanna be there when they unlock the prison doors and let her outta her house agian.

You are allowed to say whether she has problems or not. You should hear me talk about my in-laws

You should know what your girlfriend is getting in trouble for and you can judge weather the crime fits the punishment.

The fact this girl is basically cut off from the world is troubling to me- and I support home schools even.

The reason shes got in trouble in the first place was because in 8th grade (shes in 10th now) she was on AIM and got in trouble for a conversation with her b/f (not me lol). Well ever since then shes been grounded from AIM for I think 2 years now. Well she got caught on AIM a few days ago and I think that one thing led to another and they got really into it and her step mom slapped her, she ran away to my house. Her step mom told me shes never ran off before so I think there might of been some things said or done that had nothing to do with the fact that she was on AIM without permission. I dont know what though. I think her step mom is too strict and over reacts on things (ie:grounding from AIM for 2 years). Her mom has good intentions as far as I can tell. I think that if she keeps going in the direction shes going with Brittany, she'll most deffenitally lose her for good. I know from experiance and I can see it happening to her just like it happened to me. Its all falling into place, which is why im worried about her. I told her that if she does run away then to let me know cause I want to be able to make sure she stays alright and so I can look after her.

What's am AIM? I'm 40 and out of touch.

I'm personally not to sympathetic to the step cause I had a step father that came into our house and tried to crack down on the rules- lead to some things considered abusive by todays standards.

You do what you think is right. But be cautious about giving your life away to help others, sometimes the payback is not what you expect.

well, see, now by what you have just informed us of, if you do decide to try to leave her, then its gonna be hard. This is the SAME situation I was in, absent father... the whole bit. Anyways, since her father isnt around, she is probably very "clingy" to you, for the sheer fact that she has no male figure in her life. Lemme take a guess... is she good friends w/ ur mom? W/ the lack of relationship w/ the stepmom, she is prolly looking for a female role model aswell, which usually ends up being someone that is very close to the male role model (i.e. your mom). Anyways, the aim thing is pretty dumb, cant justify grounding for that long. Your girls got it pretty hard, and chances are, it wont be much better for her until she gets outta the house. But not by running away, she will open herself up to alot of trouble and danger, and that's a path that EVEN YOU need to try your best to keep her off of. But not at the expence of yourself (ie waiting for a year for her, dont do it man).

AOL Instant Messenger. (Don't feel bad Jeff, I had to do a search to figure it out).

Wezol, She wouldn't, by chance, have been on it with you when she was busted? I imagine if most parents were to be made aware of what their teenage kids were talking about, they would have a tendency to over react.

No she wasnt on it with me when she got busted. She got busted for bein on AIM a few days after she was actually on it. She copied and pasted somthin from it and forgot to re-copy somthin and her step mom was trying to copy somthin and acidentally hit paste instead of copy and the stuff that brittany copied came up so thats how she got caught. But it was a few days after the fact.

Traxxis, shes only met my mom a few times actually, one of those times being a few days ago when she ran here and my mom was the only one here. She said my mom talked to her and calmed her down, she said she liked my mom alot too. She said it was just the way she talked to her, made her feel alot better. So ya they get along pretty well and Brittany feels as if she can trust her. Im going to do what I can to keep her out of trouble.

Sounds good wezol, just be alert and don't screw up. 'Cause that is no fun atal- for either one of you. You're gonna half to watch it for a while is all. I think it's good that you are sticking around to help her out, instead of bailing on her. -william

Im not the type to bail on someone. Just doesnt seem right to me. I know I wouldnt feel to well if someone bailed on me when I needed them the most.

Sounds like a crock. But thats what makes kids grow up and make their own decisions.
Its the outside influence and guidence in those times of distress that can lead a kid to the wrong path, or the right path.
When parents push kids down the road of life, Kids need someone there as a bumper, helping them stay between the lines.
Sounds like your mom, as was mine, could help keep your girl on the right path, just by being a bumper.
Good luck, its a long road to travel.

ya dude, it's good that you are staying with her, but i know that I'm preaching it, but just dont do it too long, I think that will just cause more trouble for you in the long run. I'd just hate for you to get caught in the middle is all i guess. Keep us posted.

Alright well Im leaving tonight for my dads then tomorrow mornin for New Mexico till Wednesday. Hopefully Ill get some things sorted out in my mind and figure out the final descision on what Im going to do. I think best while snowboarding. Brittany is aloud to write letters to me and I got one in the mail today, She said "I feel warm and cozy when Im in your arms and when I talk to you. I can be in a bad mood or sad, but as soon as I talk to you or see you I feel better for the time Im with you. I have NEVER felt this way about any one outside of my family before." Im going to write her back while Im on vacation.
Thank you all for your advice and Ill post some updates when I get back.
