I went to Indy last year. What a huge disappointment and waste of money that was. At least I have friends there that I was able to stay with. But ALL the cars I was most interested in seeing were on Michlen tires that were coming apart so they didn't race!!!
So it was just watching the two Ferraris run around the track with the back markers far behind. Not much of a race.
I bought $150 tickets, just to be out of the sun and/or rain, and the were up high. Problem being, from our seats, you couldn't even see the straight that was right in front of us. We could only see the cars on the track in the far distance in the first and last turns!!!!!!! It is an outrage for that money. If you go, buy your tickets directly from the ticket agent at the track (in advance,) so you can ask questions. There were a great number of seats that have this problem. I bought mine online from the Indy site, and I picked the seats. They were high up right across from the pits a couple of hundred feet behind the start/finish line and covered. I could not even imagine that you wouldn't be able to see the track in front of you. What a complete ripoff. Also there are a lot of posts supporting the roof over the stands, be careful you don't get a seat next to or behind one of those obstructions. The only people in our section that could see the track were in the front row.
The money for our tickets was refunded by Michlen Tires.
Looking forward to watching the Aussie F-1 on tv where you can see something.
Thats no good at all Bdox...
That race did suck, but at least you got your money refunded - fortunately we can sit about 5 feet from the fence - having an F1 flying past at around 200mph about 10ft away is exhilerating... (And LOUD)
Yeah - but it was a fantastic race... The first couple of laps especially - Renault almost look unstoppable, unless McLaren can pull thier finger out...
I think ferrari might have something for them.. they've just been having a bit of bad luck the past two races. And yeah, the mcclarens are looking strong.
I heard that michael will be retiring and that kimi is going to be moving to ferrari next year, you know if this is true? or just a rumor?
Michael looked great all those years that Ferrari was undesputidly the dominant car in F-1 but when Ferrari is just one of many, he is now unexceptional in a field of equally fantastic drivers.
I was having trouble keeping track of everything. The drivers changing teams and the cars all new and different paint schemes.
Yeah, I don't think Michael is as good as he used to be, but he was the best driver in the world for a long time i'd say. There was no one that could beat him.
Scott did well - he positively outclassed Coulthard near the end...
And captian P4 - I have heard a similar rumour here too. Whether it will eventuate or not, I don't know, it is F1 after all...
It was interesting listening to Michael after he crashed, he was asked what he felt when Liuzzi passed him, whether he thought it was unfair that Toro Rosso are still running V10's (albeit restricted). His response was that it was fair and that his car wasn't up to it.
Here we have one of the best drivers, in the richest team, saying that he was "outclassed" by a team running last years Red Bull car with a driver that only started in F1 last year ... doesn't sound promising...
Yeah, David Hobbs said something about Ferrari running on too hard a compound, but after they changed tires there was no improvement.
Too bad about Massa though.
Did they even get a chance to change the tires??
One of the announcers said it was too bad that he crashed because he was on a 'charge' or something, I hadn't noticed if he was running faster lap times though before he crashed.
