I just priced an overhaul kit from International for my early 99 psd. The parts man priced me a kit that he said would fit from 1996-2000 with serial numbers between 216544-1419276. The paper sticker with the serial number was long gone before I bought the truck but since I have the engine out and on a stand I was able to locate the machined area behind the oil cooler where the serial number is suppose to be. Now I'm confused because I found a group of three numbers stamped together so faint I can't be sure what they say but they look like "S65" another 3 digit group about 1 inch aft "799" below them "t444e" below that "193845" . the 193845 looks like the serial number to me but it doesn't fall between the numbers that the parts man said covered from 1996-2000 and my truck is a 99. My engine is completely torn down does any one know of any parts I can check so I can tell for sure what year my engine is? Thanks Dan
the engine serial number starts w/ 7.4JU2U for the ford engines. The numbers after that are the build sequence numbers. If you can take a pic of it and post id be glad to get u a price quote or part numbers.

hey can u get some part numbers off of the rod and mains, crank, and pistons. We showed no parts or anytihg for that matter for that serial number. Are you sure this isnt a reman engine?
Well it looks like the engine might be reman. I called the dealership that originally sold the truck this morning, they said they had replaced the engine under warranty in august of 1999, but they couldn't say for sure if it was new or reman. I do know that the crank is standard standard and the block hasn't been bored yet. I ordered my overhaul kit w/.020 over pistons today for engines built between 1996-2000. The parts man said he would take care of me if it's wrong but I sure hope it's right. Here's the p/n's you asked for piston=1824284c1 c ,rod cast #=1812003c2, main bearing=10D over 1812019C1, main thrust bearing=06D over 1812037C1, rod bearings=11D over 1812015C1, cam bearings=1805400C3 also say 11.98, crank has stamped#919958, cast#1831241C also cast# S . 17 . 5.... Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, I work afternoon shift and don't get home till midnight. Let me know what you think and thanks for your help. Dan

74JU2U1023071 is my serial number on my 1999. Is that early 99 or late 99? I don’t know. I can’t figure it out at all. Please help.
